Importing Regions

I want to import regions into Sim City.
I know this requires a bmp file and a config file named config.bmp
I open a new region, push ctrl+alt+shift+R, browse through the files to find the bmp file and click open.
However, after 1 import, Sim City will never import regions again. I get to the browsing box and click open bmp, but sim city does nothing. I've tried making the bmp greyscale, 16bit colour, even resizing the bmp - but nothing seems to work. Restarting doesn't seem to work.

Does anyone know whats going on and how to fix it so Sim City will Import regions again?

I believe the greyscale image should be a jpeg file for the game to recognize it.

And moving to the Mapping Community Room.

Thanks for the advice CaptCity. I now know JPEGs import faster than BMPs.

I, however, found my problem.

The config files I was given for each of my greyscales were not the correct ones, so my greyscale jpeg was too big or too small for the region.

However thanks for the advice.

The grayscale.jpg should be 8 bit, 256 color format.
