Hello everyone, as I said in other topic, someone got into my house and stole my computers and tv, so, we are searching for the best options of computers. I live in Costa Rica, and here the computers are like three times the price of the USA, I have a friend in the USA and told me that he could buy the computer and send it to us. So, I want to hear a lot of suggestions, or if not, the best suggestion you can give me to buy a computer that can run completely smoothly CXL, considering that obviously it will have Windows 7. Thanks all, and please, I want to see suggestions 4.gif

Well... we need to know how much you want/can pay for it 4.gif

But I would suggest:

* Intel Core i5

* Motherboard that "fits" an i5

* 4Gb RAM

* ATI HD 5770 1Gb

* HD 500Gb 7200 rpm

* Windows 7 64bits

* Monitor 24' or 26' or 23' Full-HD *-*

That would be a very good computer that can run all the games at the moment at the highest seetings in 1920x1080. I can say this because I have something similar... 9.gif (but not sooo good)

Of course, you can buy much better PC's, but this may work for you ^^

This link shows something similar... just the video card is missing 3.gif

Hope this was helpful. ^.^

Nice triple-post djlm91...

Give us a price in USD and we can help you.

Two good sites for buying parts:

www.tigerdirect.com || www.newegg.com

I don't think they do shipping to Costa Rica though.

The setup djlm91 told you about is pretty mediocre, it will play CitiesXL and run Win7 with no issue, but it won't play Crysis maxed out with AA on a very high resolution.

    Ok, thank you both. And well, I think that the most we can afford is like 700$. So, I would be happy if I could run CXL in medium quality but completely smooth. And Ant1-b0dy, don`t worry, because its completely common for me to see that like 3/4 of the internet buying sites dont ship to Costa Rica...:S but well. Thanks 9.gif

    here's a real good machine for the price considering you are on a budget and need to get the machine out of the country.

    $645.99

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834101232

    you could get a laptop because it is easier to get to ur location. when it comes to buying a comp in usa and bringing it out of country a laptop is the best bet, and the specs are comparable to desktops today. just matters how much you want to spend.

    I just picked up some of these on sale last week fore $599.

    this is a laptop with an Intel I5:

    LoL

    The computer I have suggested is just like this two laptops.... that link was just to ilustrate, forget it.... 3.gif

    ATI HD 5470 is not so good... 5770 is much better. I have it and I can play Assassin's Creed 2, GTA 4, Batman Arkham Asylum, Blur, NFS's, Just Cause 2, CXL :]... all of them at the highest settings with AA on in 1080p with no problems.

    My friend bought this 5470 for his new desktop and it can barely runs GTA 4 at medium! 43.gif I know what I'm saying =)

    I've never tried Crysis or other FPS games 'cause they're not my type.... but I know Crysis would not run perfectly, but I don't care... I won't play it! xD

    I don't know how prices are in USD... but this laptops are pretty nice. But everybody knows that a desktop is way better for games than a laptop. Even if it is a good one.

    (I'm sorry...the triple-post was accidentaly, of course.... I tried to post but a problem happened and it didn't work... than I tried again and failed again. And now I saw three posts o.O)

    Well, finally, we had some trouble with the Insurance Company but finally they gave us the money. And now, actually, I would be happy with a computer that can run Cities Xl (2011 finally yay!!!!) in medium quality with no problems. I think that we can pay about $600, so, now if you could give me options withing that "range" I would thank you 4.gif

    Finally (as I said) the insurance companie paid us, and right now, what we have is $500 to buy a new computer, the best possible to play CitiesXl 2011. Well, then, my parents are going to Miami next month and they are going to buy the computer there, as it is cheaper. So im asking you for your help, to figure out which is the best computer we can buy with $500 that can run CitiesXl 2011 in the highest graphic quality that it can. Obviusly with windows 7

    Thank you for your help, and please I want to see the best suggestion possible! 4.gif

    I have a Gateway GT5628, which was the cheapest gaming computer on the market (discontinued). You will certainly want something at least as good as mine (my computer does not meet the recommended requirements and the game forces me into Low, but I can change it to medium).

    Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

    Words to live by:
    "Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

    "Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
    "Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

    Two questions: Exaclty what processor (I think he's reffering to the newer AM3+ socket quads) and what 512MB PCIe card? I'm an Intel fanboy so I'd say Core i5; but AMD is good for the money. As far as the videocard, (since its an AMD processor) I'd go with an AMD/ATI video card, sticking with the same brands on multiple equipment seems to work best (I'm on an EVGA Classified board with EVGA 4 series cards) as far as stability goes. If he changes you to an Intel setup, go with an nvidia based card. As far as models, on the AMD/ATI team i'd have to say the 5000 series - for nvidia a 260 will work just fine, but go for a 4 series if you can spend the extra money.

    Also to note, that 4th GB of RAM will put you on a 64bit Operating System if you want to use all 4GB. 32-bit systems have a limitation of 3.2-3.5GB and Windows will NOT use it all unless if its a 64-bit based system. (As far as compatibility issues go, I don't see many now-a-days but they do exist with older [1998 erra games] and some won't run properly but most kick into legacy mode and run in their own 32bit environment from your 64bit computer). Moose probably has a better way of explaining it to you though.
