This is my first post here, I have just began my journey into SImcity4 and trying to learn all the ins and outs of the huge amount of stuff available here.  In any case thank you for your input, it's greatly appreciated.

I am experimenting with the HSR/GHSR, and I am slowly figuring out how to lay the tracks, and place the stations.  However I am a little confused about how to get the track across city boundaries.  When I save and move to the next city, I see the monorails tracks rather than the HSR tracks.  If I place a start peice it will replace the monorial, and I can drag out more tracks.

However I just saw in a how-to video that you need to delete the starter peice once its down and you drag out our track..  Is that the case?  If so any input on how to work with the HSR is welcome.

    Thanks!!

Yes, that's normal. HSR is a re-texturing of the monorail network. When you drag off-map to make a connection, the neighboring city does not "know" it's HSR until the texture over-ride "tells" it by using the starter piece. So, once in the new city, just run the monorail from the border out a bit, then plop a stater piece. That should convert the whole line. After that you can delete the starter.

It is not mandatory that you delete the starter piece. Everything will function fine with or without it. However, if you do not delete the starter, you will not be able to branch off at that point or (if using Elevated HSR) run anything under the tracks. So it is a good idea to delete the starter pieces
