Hi,

I have the latest NAM. deleted all the old one, still, I see 2 icons in my alternate transport menu. I removed all the NAM files reloaded the game and it disappeared. I might have installed some wrong or old plugin but can't find any. here I have attached all the NAM folders and plugin files. if someone can tell me which one's creating problem would be a great help.

This can happen if you have an extra copy of your traffic simulator somewhere. I don't see an extra copy in your NAM folder, but the extra copy would start with the name "NetworkAddonMod_Traffic_Plugin_Z".

You do have some repeated files in the Essentials folder that are also in the NAM root folder (all but the first one). That could be causing things to be doubled up. Basically, that's how the NAM Essentials works. The Essentials files replace existing NAM files. You do not need both the NAM original files and the NAM Essential files. You could just move the files from the Essentials folder and overwrite the files in the NAM folder - if they're newer. Actually, if you have the newest NAM, you won't even need the Essentials.

And going to move this to Modding - Transit Networks

Oh! I didn't know that. I do have the newest NAM so I will just remove the essential folder. Thanks a lot for the advice.

    Hi CaptCity

As you suggested I have removed the Nam essential folder. still get 2 icons for underground subway. I am throughly confused.

Hi Z1 I tried to look for NetworkAddonMod_traffic_Plugin_z file but it's not there too.

    Please help!!

I went back and took another look at your folders/files in the posted images... The only thing I can see that I don't recognize is the folder named "Configuration." What is in that one? And I'm not too sure about the "zzNetworkAddonMod_overrides" file. Likewise, you might check in the NAM_GLR_Stations_Patch" folder.

Also, you haven't mentioned that you did, but have you ever DatPacked your plugins?

Other than that, you might need to check your other folders/files you have in the Plugins folder for any duplicate NAM files.

Edit: The more I think about the double subway icon, the more I seem to remember (from a very long time ago) there was something that caused it but it didn't cause any adverse game function. I believe I even read about it in the forums. I can't for the life of me remember what it was, but I did notice you have a folder named "High Speed Rail Project." Is that the original one or the newer version? I also thought that it might be Blahdy's Big Dig lots, but I checked and it wasn't that. Curious... I'll keep checking...

Edit again: Had another thought... Are there any ".sav" files in your Plugins folder? If so, they can be removed.

You've got a good eye, CaptCity! The Configuration folder was created by the NAM Tool, and I'd be willing to bet it's got an extra copy of Simulator Z in it.  That would definitely cause this problem.

Yes, I went back and dusted off a copy of the NAM Tool and tried it out. While some files were the same name and some not, perhaps the same properties were included because there was a double subway icon - perhaps that's where I remember experiencing it before.

sachin28, I would think, since you installed the newest NAM, you could probably remove that Configuration folder. And if you still want some control over functionality, you can try the NAM Traffic Subsystem.

CaptCity, you really have an eye for detailing. OK, I removed NAM essentials and ZZ_networkaddonmod_overrides. Ran the game... nothing changed. Removed the Configuration folder, ran the game again and the duplicate icon disappeared but I was getting some empty spaces in the menu bar and some icons shifted but nothing affected the game. I removed NAM_GLRstation_patch and everything' fine now.

I do have a questions.... Does that means NAM configuration is not needed? OR NAM configuration and NAM traffic stimulator has same functionality?

What is this NAM GLR station_patch? is it an older version included in new NAM?

I don't know where's this ZZ_networkaddonmod_overrids came from :-( what does that suppose to do?

Well, once again thanks to you and Z1 for helping me. Cheers!

The Configuration folder is created by the NAM Tool, and if I remember correctly, the Tool's version had to match the NAM it was designed to work with. That's probably why it was not performing 100% with the new version of NAM. The tool allows the player to set various characteristics of the different networks used in the game. This would then create a new simulator, which would mean you had the one in the NAM folder and the new one created by the NAM Tool. Also, the NAM Tool was kind of a forerunner of the current NAM Traffic Subsystem tool mentioned in my previous post. The newer tool would be what you would want to use now to change any desired settings. And neither one is actually required for NAM to function.

As for the GLR Station patch, yes, that would be what caused the spaces in your menus. It was a group of patches that were used by individual stations when the draggable GLR tracks were first introduced. The stations at that time were not compatible with it, hence the patches. The spaces are caused by having patches without the actual stations being installed. Today's stations don't need the patch since they were created to work with the draggable tracks. If you don't have any older GLR stations, you would not need the patch folder. And it, also, is not required for NAM to operate.

Now, the zz_networkaddonmod_overrides file I'm not to sure about. I thought perhaps it was some interim fix for something in a previous version of NAM, but I couldn't find any reference to it. I do know that it would not be required for the current NAM to function.

If it is, it would have to be a very, very old one.  To my knowledge, though, back in those days, NAM releases were smaller and more frequent--they would have most likely just popped a fix into a new release, if I'm not mistaken. Interestingly, I find no reference to it in the NAM Cleanitol file as well.

I'd be curious to know the creation date on it, as well as what opening it in the Reader turns up.  Judging by the name, I'd guess it probably contains a modified copy of RUL 0x10000002 at the very least.  If that is indeed the case, it's most likely some sort of really old and/or off-the-cuff modification, which would interfere quite seriously with the proper functionality of one's NAM installation.
