I have heard news that IBM is bringing out the game cityone. I have a few questions about it first of all is it going

to be like simcity 4 gameplay where you build roads and look after the residents or is it going to be like sims?

Also when is it coming out???

i am skeptical of the game because it seems like it has a set goal, to make your city "environmentally sound". personally, i like the freedom and open endeness of Simcity 4

It seems to be more about city management then city building. 'Nuff said.

Should be an interesting application though, being that is would be a nitty gritty detail oriented type thing, which I find to be fun 3.gif

The trailer (you can see from the links on the simtropolis homepage) doesn't really tell you too much yet though. Although it does give the impression that it is more about the management side of things

Well, I doubt it is really an IBM product, as gaming other than very serious simulations is not their bag.  They probably have it from a partner or a subsidiary.  In any case, IBM tends to take the MBA approach to anything.  It might be worth a trial, but I wouldn't rush out an purchase it, as it may very well be a flash in the pan, or a pot boiler.

Right now it is very vague to begin with, but most likely it will be a full 3d engine and based around managing. I think they are trying to sell this as a development tool rather than a commerical game by the information I have read.
