Crash and Monitor Fail

My System:

Mircrosoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002

Service Pack 3

AMD Sempron Processor 3000+

1.80GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM

My Game:

Sim City 4 Deluxe Edition

Plugins, including Mods and Region, present.

My Problem:

This has only just started happening but when I load SC4 it gets to the Region View, freezes and then either cuts straight back to the Desktop or my monitor looses signal completely. If the monitor looses singal I then have to restart the whole computer. Any ideas or help would be very welcome. Thank you in advance!

No terrain Mods. I have just over 146MB of Plugins, which ones in specific would you like to know of?

If it is something just started to happen, then it is something you just changed.. what have you added /deleted?

I've just moved all of the last 7 days worth of downloads out of the SC4 files and am still getting the same problem. Would you say it is worth re-installing SC4? Has that been known to help?

your computer could be overheating... try removing all the dust/lint from your computer case. i fried my 8800 (started getting artifacts... system wouldn't boot) when i opened my case it was full of dust and had to get a new video card... pop er open and check it out before it's too late

Problems with the monitor losing signal won't likely be caused by SimCity or it's plugins. I suggest you take a look at your Video Card. Is it over heating? Is the RGB cable plugged in correctly? Is it missing any pins in the plug? These are more likely reasons that your monitor would lose signal. Add to that your computer freezing when it happens and I would go as far as to say that your video card is just over heating.

I took my computer completely apart and gave it a jolly good clean inside. That didn't help the crashing (although I'm sure it must have helped something, the ammount of dirt I took out the fans)

I just moved all my plugins and downloaded maps out of the SC4 files and it now seems to be working. So I shall sit down and add each file in individually until I find the culprit!

Thank you everyone who has helped 4.gif Genuinely appreciated!
