[Mod] No Air pollution

This patch file will remove all air pollution from all Heavy Industry, Manufacturing, and Landfills, and will remove city wide pollution from power plants and landfills.

 

Version History

  • v1. Most Industry and manufacturing
  • v2 Found more buildings and included lanfills
  • v2a Found 3 lingering files (did not have all my pak files extracted :( )
  • v3 Found 1 Manufacturing building that was in the utilities folder, also removed city wide pollution of power plants and made them produce 3 times the normal levels of power.
  • v4 Found more buildings

Just industry or manufacture as well?

Do I need to replace buildings to see it? I am trying that now but for the moment I still see pollution...

EDIT: I think maybe you missed some buildings? For example the "Spare Parts Factory" and the "Pharmaceuticals Factory" still produce pollution while others don't...

Also "materials warehouse"

the smaller, medium density manufacturing "cement works"

medium manufacture "tool factory"

medium manufacture "soap factory"

    yes by industry i meant manufacturing as well. i dont have a industrial city right now (building it now.....) so i will see how those specific buildings are not included.

    Edit: New version up found more files and it also now gives rid of landfill pollution

    OK, good improvements.

    Some buildings still polluting though:

    Med. Manufacturing "Tool Factory"

    Med. Manufacturing "Materials Warehouse"

    Large Manufacturing "Pharmaceuticals Factory"

    Large Heavy Ind. "Spare Parts Factory"

    Will keep testing for more, but that's what I've found so far in the industrial area of my city.

    updated again found 3 more files (i guess i never let all my pak files extract... soo i let that run while i watched a movie....) now if only i could find the electricity buildings

    - updated again there was a manufacturing building hiding in the utilites folder of all places.. and a power plant is in the production folder... no wonder why MC had a hard time making this game they did not place all of the same buildings in one place...

    Also removed CITY WIDE pollution of power plants i left local pollution because thats how it is in real life your not getting off that easy....

    I was finally able to go through and test all the manufacturing and heavy industry.

    These are the ones that still produce pollution.

    Heavy ind, low density:

    Charcoal refinery

    Heavy Ind, med.

    all fine

    Heavy industry, high density:

    all fine

    Manufacturing, low density:

    Small warehouse

    Pharmaceutical Factory

    Sewing workshop

    Manufacturing, medium density:

    Materials warehouse

    Tool factory

    Manufacturying, high density

    Pharmaceuticals Factory

    BTW, not being ungrateful, love the mod and there is a lot less pollution, just trying to help you produce a mod that delivers all it can. 2.gif

    yup i don't have a industrial city to much yet so it helps, would be easier if MC actually put all the buildings in the same spot grrr i think they had a few devs that were smoking the good stuff going hahah lets put manufacturing buildings in the utilities area

    yes i will remove city wide from harbors but i will be leaving the local pollution (same thing as the power plants and landfills)

    Remove to much and theres a point where you make the game trival... you have to think about some planning...

    Well, you are the mod maker so it is up to you. But personally I like getting rid of all this negative stuff so I am free to build my city the way I want unconstrained by the way the original designers thought I should make it.

    For example, I'd like a cruise ship port or ferry port. They didn't provide these things to me, but if I could use the two harbors they did give me and place them anywhere (as I now can) I could place them so aesthetically they look like a cruise ship port or ferry port.

    So I look to mods to free me of other people's constraints. But like I said you are making it so it is up to you.

    I think that there is a passenger port without pollution floating around somewhere.

    Not to step on toes, just expressing my opinion here... But what you said, is exactly what this mod does.  By removing all air pollution from heavy industry, it trivializes the heavy industry.  Now if I please, I can place heavy industry in my residential sections (not that I would) because there is no pollution from them, correct?.

    I'd really like to see this mod reworked to where it reduces pollution but doesn't remove it entirely from industry, manufacturing etc, if that is possible to do.  As the game is now in my opinion, the pollution from heavy industry is too much, but there should be some pollution, as it is industrial buildings.

    With that said, the mod is indeed good for those people like the poster above in this thread that does not want to play by the developers rules and wants to free build as he/she sees to do so.

    Is it possible that the game's pollution is either all or nothing for industrial buildings?

    Does this work in Cities XL 2011? I do not need so extreme a mod for my game but I would appreciate a mod that halves pollution or at least reduces city-wide air pollution.

    It works on CXL 2011 but seems to interfere with industrial demand. I cant get the industries to grow up until drop their taxes to 10%. Fearing to loose money because this, I increase it to 15% and until now it seems to work.

    Yes, I have the same problem with the mod.

    I had to lower the taxes to industries, if not industry start to disappear.

    However, the pollution goes away completely ... is a cost-benefit mod4.gif haha

    Yes, it does work in CXL 2011.

    However, I haven't observed any impact on industrial demand in my cities. The taxes are medium to quite high (definitely over 15%) and I've never had troubles with demand. Are you sure that this mod in particular causes it?

    This mod works for CXL 2011 but does not take away polluion from t-1, t-3 manufacturing 15.gif , nothing worng with building medium density though

    I actually do not need this anymore because I use Goldiva's mod on reducing pollution after it has been created (cleaning it up instead of preventing it) and I don't really have the time to play.
