I want to start BATing

What are the essential files or programs that I need to start BATing my own lots. I have a bunch of really cool ideas and want to get started.

Get the BAT and Lot Editor here.

You will need Gmax from here before you can use the BAT though.

There's a tutorial in the omnibus, broken into pieces, by phillipbo - sit down over a couple of evenings, and work through it, piece by piece, until you have replicated the buiding in the tutorial.  From modelling to texturing to lighting to exporting to testing in game.  Then you will have a grasp of the basics of working with the BAT.

Another piece of advice - don't be one of those people who has a BAT thread, but fails to post pictures of their BATs in it.  There's nothing more ridiculous than a bunch of chatter on the first page of a BAT thread, with nothing to show for it.  Post screenshots (hitting the 'print screen' button in gmax, then opening an image editing program like Paint or Photoshop and pasting the graphic there) so we have something to evaluate and critique.
