No medium wealth jobs

I had a nice growing city but then an entire section began to have no job zots. My commute times are long, about 45 minutes, but I'm working on some mass transit to fix that. A lot of the medium wealth folks who have jobs in this area commute to my downtown CBD, which is clear on the other side of the map.

I zoned a lot of HT, but none of the lots upgraded to high wealth and all of my commercial lots were becoming high wealth and not medium wealth. I've attached a screenshot for assistance.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

On the same topic (somewhat) I'm getting Commute times that say Long when the route shows the people just walking a block to work. I've linked a screenshot. This house's information says it's commute time as long and it doesn't make sense to me. Help?

For your first problem: Try taxing the living daylights out of CS$$$ and CO$$$. Well, not so much that the small level of high-wealth commercial you DO need can't be sustained, but enough that the demand won't be high enough for high wealth commercial to replace medium wealth. Soon after the tax hike, a lot of the high-wealth business buildings you have now will be abandoned or will depreciate into being medium or low-wealth business. Bulldoze the abandoned ones, and don't mind the ones that were taken over by lower wealth catagories.

For your second problem: My best guess here is that since walking is presumably the slowest form of transit, the commute time is long even though the distance would be short for people driving or using mass transit.

The commute you're showing is a short commute.  The reason the query says "Long" is that you have unemployed Sims in that house.  The game considers that it takes them a very long time to get to work (since they don't have jobs), and when all the commutes for the house are averaged together, you end up with Long.

Thanks for the replies. This game frustrates me to no end at times but I love it. Any more info would be appreciated if anyone has any comments.
