Help with kd5rax Petronas Twin Towers...

Can anyone help me with this issue? I downloaded kd5rax's beautiful Petronas Twin Towers building. Everything looks great except I cannot get the big Park Pond to show up. The array of spraying fountains are showing up, but no water. I have the updated file...  is there a dependency file that I need? Do I need to get GMAX?

You wouldn't need to get Gmax, however I think its just a dependency issue. Just go into the readme associated with the download (if there is one) or go to the actual file on the STEX and make sure you have all the dependencies required for that lot to function and appear properly.

Thanks for the assistance. I have looked for the readme file and for the required dependencies list... none exsist.

I have downloaded so many buildings and files from the STEX, sc4devotions BSC, and other sites, and ran a number of cleanitol programs. To bad there isn't a dependency list... it would help out a lot.

If anyone comes across the file needed please pass it on to me.

    Thanks

Is anyone else having this issue?

    Hello, hopecity,

    Welcome to Simtropolis.

Yep, there wasn't a Readme included with the download, and no dependencies were listed in the STEX description.  Opening this lot up in the SC4 Tool Dependency Scanner shows 11 missing props, but they aren't identified.  I have most of the widely used prop packs. The missing files are listed as "not found" so I'm not sure where you could find them without a name to aid in the search.  There are several people mentioning that they have your problem in the comments section of the STEX Details as well.  If it were me, I might try using the Lot Editor to remove the missing props and replace them with similar ones.  It would be your call if the BAT is worth it for you.  There also is a version of Petronas on the LEX fundraising DVD of SC4Devotion if you're familiar with that site.  Please let me know if you have questions about anything I mentioned.

    Enjoy the game.

I just looked at some of the comments the file got on the STEX, it appeared that a few other downloaders had the same problem. Kd5rax probably forgot to supply the readme/file info with the correct dependencies. From taking a look at the fountain, i'm pretty sure that it is a base or overlay texture. Your best bet would be to get in touch with kd5rax, but I'm not sure if he's around much on ST anymore.

Edit - Ah, I saw Livin In Sim posted right before me! The idea of recreating the lot in LE is not such a bad idea!

Thanks for the suggestions and scanning the file. I tried looking for Grover_G for the mall textures, equinox for the final rendering and packaging, and DarkMatter. I am not sure if they are around on ST either. This lot looks great without the park pond and its walls, but it would be nice to have the full affect if you know what i mean. I haven't used the Lot Editor much.

I have thought about getting the fundraising DVD on the LEX...

oh... I will look though the texture files to see if i can find the missing file.

Thanks again for all of the help!

I have had Sim City 4: Deluxe Addition since it first came out, but I didn't start using the STEX and other sites until recently... I have been missing out on a whole other dimension to Sim City!

Hi, Mike, yep, hopecity posted right before me as well.  3.gif  Here is an update.  I opened the lot in Lot Editor, and underneath the fountain effects there was a prop that just showed as a box with no name, and could not be seen in the lot view.  I wanted to replace it with a pond or a lake, so I deleted it, and typed "lake" into the search box for Props.  Oddly enough, the first prop that came up was the missing one, according to the STEX description picture, a large dark blue lake with circular markings.  So it's not a base or overlay texture.  So I placed that prop, and elevated it to 1.0 as the one I deleted was.  I saved it, plopped it in game, and it was there.  Now you may not have all the prop packs I have.  So if you try this and it doesn't work for you, we're back to square one, as I don't know the name of the pack that the lake prop would be in.  Please let me know if you would like to try this and need more detailed instructions.

On an unrelated note, the BAT itself needs a bit of work, as the towers appear to be "smushed" into the base.  The modding may also unbalance the game, since it's so large, and the modders mentioned they were a bit confused how to modd it in the comments section.  All in all, if you are set on having this landmark, it might be worth it to purchase the SC4D LEX DVD, as the quality of their offerings is scrutinized by a team.

Livin in Sim: I will try to do what you did in the Lot Editor later today... I have a ton of prop packs, maybe the large dark blue lake with circular markings will show up for me. I will try your steps first and be back if I need further instructions.

I will look into getting the DVD if all else fails. Although I probably have many of the lots and packs that are on the DVD.

    Thank you!

Success! Thanks for the instructions on this. I think the 'lake' prop file comes with the download.

Let me take a stab at this in case others have questions. I searched for the 'lake' file in the Lot Editor list just as you did and found it immediately. I wrote down the file's path name in case I had to get back into the LE program if there was a failed result from the lake fix. In fact there was. I hadn't used the LE in a while so I had to refresh my skills a little. I deleted the Petronas Twin Towers from my Sim City 4 Plugins folder because it was a copy from the original. (I save my files in another folder and copy them over when I can). Without moving the original Petronas Twin Tower file to the Sim City 4 plugin folder I got back into the LE and searched extensively for the 'lake' prop file... did not find it. I moved the orginal Petronas Twin Towers file back into the Sim City 4 Plugin folder, restarted the LE and found the 'lake' file. I made the fix and the result did make the lot look better in my opinion. Hopefully you are still with me through my explaination.

Results after moving some props around:

    Petronas Twin Towers without lake

Petronas Twin Towers before lake fix...

    Petronas Twin Towers with lake

Petronas Twin Towers after lake fix...

I still have problems with texture files, but from what I have read it is a common bug in the game with overlapping textures.

Thanks for the help! Hope this helps others...

Can anyone please lend me with a lake/pond version of this tower, so I will have no issues with this tower?
