Backup copy made but cities missing

Hi all,

So, I copied my cities to my flash drive and then transfered them to my backup computer. Thing is three of my cities are missing on the transfer though. Should I just go back and do each manually, or is there a real problem. I know this isn't a whole lot of information, just wondering if there is a general, quick solution.

Thanks much!

When you say "missing," do you mean the spaces where the cities should have been where empty, or the terrain was there but not any development? Were they default Maxis cities or custom ones, and how did you copy them into the new location? There's a couple things that may have happened depending on how you tranferred them. Let us know...

First of all, thanks much for your help! I transfered the folder from My Documents that has all my plugins and cities to my memory stick. I installed Sim City on my backup computer, and then I dropped and dragged the folder into the Sim City folder in My Documents on the backup machine. Instead of these 3 cites, there is the original terrain but no development on them.  Is this clear?

When you dragged the SimCity 4 folder on to the backup computer, I am assuming it asked if you wanted to replace the existing folder and all of its contents? If so, and you said yes, then you may have not really replaced the cities with the copies since the default names could have been be different. This would lead to a casw where the city files are in the region, but the game reads the originals.

What you can try is to copy the cities into the Downloads folder located in the Region folder. From there, start the game and use the "Import" function to get the cities into the region. The import function can be accessed from the Region view after selecting (but not opening) the city you want replced. Click on the small monitor icon on the popup interface window and navigate to the city in the Downloads folder.
