Viaduct rail as substitute

Heya all,

One of my favourite things about the NAM is the Trams. Only problem is, that you can't really use El-Rail with it.

Does anyone use Viaduct Rail as a substitute? Would love to hear from you all.

I usually use the viaduct rail in my played cities (not the show-off ones) rather than the el-rail, just because I've never seen subway elevated rails where I live and I feel a little bit unconfortable with them, I'm not used to them; and its upkeep costs in-game are higher than the subway or the rail ones. Anyways, if you make me choose between GLR or el-rail; I would say definately GLR but it is just a personal taste decision.

Asking to your question, I upgrade railroads to viaduct rail when the city gets denser and having 10 at-level rail crossings is kinda unrealistic.

IMO, the El-rail has on its favour its flexibility. You can go from the elevated tracks to a GLR/trams layout or going underground making it a simple subway line.
