Placing bus stops and sub/train stations right beside each other? Is this okay?

Say you have a subway track and one subway station:

==================================

If the usage hits, say 200%, can you do this:

=============================

If not, what kind of problems occur?

Also, does anyone remember this article?  https://www.simtropolis.com/omnibus/index.cfm/Main.SimCity_4.Commute_Time_and_Pathfinding_Report

Someone mentioned parts of it were obsolete, so I'm wondering if the NAM mod changes the traffic simulator.

First question: Yes, that will work, because subway stations don't calculate the through capacity. Only likely problem I can think of is that commuters board the subway at the left station, and exit at the next one, to reduce travel times. This however adds to usage, so your solution might shoot itself in its foot.

Second question: In the NAM, you have the option to install a custom Traffic Simulator, which is recommended (Standard Traffic simulator is by some equalled to having no simulator at all), but that only changes the parameters the simulator works with, not its inner working, which can not be altered. So that article would have been completely valid, minus some mentions of max commute times, if it weren't for passing time. In the present day, more things have come to be known about the inner workings of the traffic simulator, making parts of it obsolete. In fact, having a quick read through it, it seems to be completely obsolete, since it seems to be a list of recommendations for Maxis/EA in how to upgrade the traffic simulator, and we know it is very unlikely EA is going to follow those recommendations any time soon. Those recommendations however have been, to the extend possible, executed by the NAM team and the simulators residing in the NAM.

Korot

Can maxis or other downloaded stations be put next to each other?(Like a bus station touching a rail station) I have heard that they need to be separated by one tile but I am not sure why? Is it because of the rule that two transit enabled buildings cant be placed next to each other or is that a different issue? Some clarity would be appreciated because I am trying to plan my transit network. Thanks.

I've done this before. The sims on the left will use the station on the left, and the sims on the right will use the right station. It equals it out sometimes, because the sims will see that the station is crowded, then they go to the station right next to the other station, which is less crowded. But if it doesn't work, all the sims will go to one station, and then they get really crowded. So it's really a 50-50 chance..........

The sides that are transit enabled (where the cars/buses/trains enter the lot) can't touch each other, and thus need to be placed one tile away from each other. The other sides however can touch each other, and thus be placed side by side.

Example: a 1x1 lot, transit enable lengthwise, with the letters being used for points on the lot. E is an enter/exit side, S is a standard tile, C is a corner and M is the center of the tile. Also, each 3x3 block of letters represents one tile. Thus

CSC CSC

EME EME

CSC CSC

can't be build, while

CEC CEC

SMS SMS

CEC CEC

can, because the enabled sides don't touch each other. I hope that this was understandable.
