Can't use the enitre screen in Widows 7! Please help!

I just bought a new laptop with lots of upgrades on it and I installed SC4 Deluxe edition on it since it is one of my favorite games to play. The laptop has a wdiescreen display. The game works fine, no lagging or crashing, but when I play it only the center of my screen (the center square) shows the game and the rest of it is black. Imagine an old movie with the widescreen black spaces on you TV; its like that but on the left and right of the game screen. Is there anyway to play the game in true full screen on a widescreen laptop? my standard resolution is 1600x900: and all the display settings in the game menu are at a 4:3 saspect ratio witch changes nothing with regards to these black rectangles on the edge of the game. I like this game a lot, but it is annoying when I'm playing on my new laptop. Does anyone else have this problem? Does anybody know of how to fix it??

Also, I've tried to create a windowed mode by adding -w or -window in the shortcut properties; but it doesn't work. The response to my addition in the target field is that it is "...not valid, make sure the path and file name are correct."

You need to set up your shortcut correcrtly to get it to use the entire screen. I have widescreen myself (1920*1200) and got instrustions on how to set it up here

Just follow the insttructions on that site and it should work fine.
