...... im thick. How did i not notice.... I tried that but it still comes up as a normal query. I shall percivere, and thanks for the tutorial, i hadnt seen that. At least i get no CTD anymore. ( Although i think its safe to say i smell at modding anything other than LOTs...)

    EDIT

Is anyone still working on this project?  I hope so, because it interests me greatly!

I'm not working on it at the moment, I'm now a senior in high school; and I've no time. I work on modern skyscrapers a little, but that's about it. 15.gif

As with SC4IE i have no time, and all my old models ( the ones in the start) Are lost in the depths of a PC crash, but i will probs start casually BATting soon, but nothing too strenuous.

     Ouch, that's unfortunate. =[

The traffic automata test mod linked previously, I understand (or assume by screenshots) that people were able to make it work, however for me it only seems to cut out my sound and cars still spawn on the streets and roads.  Anyone know how to make it work?

I have the day off tomorrow, so if (and that's still an if) I get around to modding a little, I may do more with the UI mod if I can find it. Post suggestions if you want to inspire me! 3.gif

I will get back to it soon though, after I finish making a source game with friends; but then it's top priority after that 2.gif

That brown and black looked good, i would stick with that and a more earthy theme, like wood and stuff. I might start some more buildings like clinics and stuff.

    Hi guys,

I'm working on a new Bat that could be used in your medieval sim. Since you're the experts on this era I would appreciate your comment to make it better.

It's the Belfry of Ghent (built in the early 14th century): Here's a detail pic of it:

You can see more on my Bat-thread (see below)

    Thanks!

This looks immense, and i wouldnt call myself an expert 3.gif. Im not really that involved in Sc4 at the min, but it would be great to be allowed it. All i would say is the Gold is a bit shiny to my taste.

    @SimCity4IE:

    belfortgent.jpg

it's a draft render from a previous fase so the texture isn't so good and there are some things missing but this gives an idea...

    ____________________________________________

@Timmystwin: according to the history-books the golden decorations used to be so shiny that they could be seen from many miles away (to show off their wealth)... Due to lack of funding, they're not so shiny anymore. Restoring them to their original state would cost too much money.

Same for the statues: they were once lively painted with bright colours but now they are a bit pale...

So I restored the Belfry to its original glory for free 2.gif

Oooh.  My only suggestion, is that when it's lotted, to offer a ploppable version that doesn't include car props, to better fit into medieval environments.

Yes progress is still happening at the private SimMedieval site. The last few months haven't seen too much action but things are picking up again. Hopefully soon we'll be able to make the site public and really start the ball rolling.

    Hey nice work Alex!!

@tSlater: the lot will be a open square (as in real life), no cars, no modern items...

@thingfishs: As you can see on my todo list, I have some other medieval bats coming up (houses and castle)...

Ah that's right, I forgot that's a no-car-zone there in central Ghent, isn't it?  I can't wait to see more of it in SC4 =]

    thanks mate!

My life went a bit haywire there for a while and this project went into limbo (and I went into the bar2.gif). But it's still a happening thing (my life and the project) and unlike last time, where I spent most of my time lotting, collecting and texturing models, and thinking about how to best organise the game (and admittedly getting overwhelmed by it at times): I have started batting. This is my first building, a medium wealth, urban residential.
Although there are still many things to decide and resolve, I think it's time to get more people involved and more BATs in production. There is a (previously private) site, where a small bunch of us have thrown a lot of ideas around. If anyone is keen to BAT, LOT, create textures, collect models or just have a browse etc., please become a member at http://simmedieval.activeboard.com

    download.spark?ID=743094&aBID=135582

    download.spark?ID=743092&aBID=135582

A few examples of the free models which will now become part of the SM universe.

honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about the UI, and certainly not the opening image, that's a way off. We need batters and lottters the most. The meat of the effect will be made by buildings, and we need a LOT. (them too) ;-)

(oh and for those that visited only to see a brief intro, try again. The site is now public, you just need to become a member to post)

I've been quiet for a while but just to let you guys know: I'm still batting... 2.gif

I've begun work on the building next to the belfry ("lakenhallen"). Here is a sneak preview of the small tower at the roof (as decoration):

a slight update of the building. Now with furniture and stone instead of brick.  Without glass there will be greater reason to peer inside homes, also to have those homes suitably outfitted - which I think can add some extra interest/character.
