High Definition?

Hi,

I'm really no longer into the whole "create my own" custom content when there are so many talented creators out there already creating stuff so .....

I see a couple lots or plugins from time to time that say that they are "HD" or High Definition.  While I understand what this means in terms of a television, It's a loss as to how some plugins are HD to me.

What makes a plugin a High Definition plugin in SC4 and what sort of extra burden do they put on the game and or computer to display them, and are they really any different than the regular plugins?  If so, in what way?

I don't know barely anything about BATting; the only thing I know about the HD BATs is that when you're playing with zoom 6, everythying (regular BATs and Maxis things) looks blurry and pixelated. HD BATs are rendered in a special way that makes them look fine when viewed in zoom 6. HD ones take up more hard drive space than the standard definition BATs but this is the only difference between the HD and the regular ones.

As a example of the latter, mcdyre's Curved Subway Entrance in SD is 112 KB and the HD version takes 161 KB.

Well if it's only hard drive space that is the difference, then it would be great to see more HD bats hitting the STEX soon as hard drive space is at it's cheapest in years so it's not really a big concern. But if it affects the performance of the game then I could see not wanting too much of it in the game.
