Welcome to my BAT thread.  I decided to make this because often in chat people ask to see pictures of what I'm working on, so here is a place to preview what I make.

This first building I'm working on is an airport based on the new Detroit airport.  I'm struggling to decide whether it looks better with nightwindows or actuall lights.  I like the omnis, I think they look more realistic but maybe nightwindows work better.

Let me know what you think. Note that all the pictures are a little pixley and small (less detail) because the building is too big to be shown 1:1.

This is without the main wing lit, but the big part is.  I like the way the omnis cast the shadows of the window frames onto the roof.

This is the latest model,
untitled4.bmp

Notice the texture on the roof is a little messed up.  If anyone knows the problem and how to fix it, let me know.

Next update will be pictures of the entrance on the other side of the structure.

The little thing on the ground is just another shape I was playing around with.

Great job so far. That looks so much better then the ingame airport terminal. Will you be giving it the stats when it will be completed?I suggest the capicity should be that of the Detroit Airport one.

Can't wait to see your other works....44.gif

The little shape towards the bottom of some of the pictures is the roof of an elevated walkway I'm playing around with.  It's meant to go in the front of the building, where there is a sort of plaza like outside Schipol.

More pictures of the plaza to come soon.

You might want to give a little bit of colour to your nitelites there.  I normally make my window nitelites numbered as below

    R:  255
    G:  255
    B:  225

This will give it a nice yellow effect for the light.

I'll think about that, also, I might add some random lights that are from shops and things inside.  Thank you for your input.

Okay, hello again.  In an attempt to enlarge the preview I deleted most of the model leaving only the front plaza.  Infront of the plaza I will put busses and taxies.  Behind it, is where the actuall building goes, as seen above. Infront of the busses will be a grass hill and the parking garrages, with several large electronic bill-boards.

Let me know what can be put on this plaza to give the right feel, in this respect, very different from the Detroit airport.

This next picture is from the side of that last shot, and I put in a utility walkway and a power box. The power box doesn't quite look right, and if anyone has any suggestions, please tell me.

Cool! I'm glad you got inspiration from the McNamara Terminal, it's a great building. I will definitely keep an eye on this!

Disaster has struck.  All my textures.....ka - plooey!!!!

I'm working to get all the textures back to normal, but the it will take a long time as a lot of them I don't remember how many times they were tiled, I'll have to experiment.

In the meantime, I've begun to work on the SC3000 building, Fortune Cookie Corps.  I'll post some pictures asap.

I've started to work on some other stuff.  I had heard all of a sudden lots of people wanted the SC3K buildings back, which was funny because I was thinking the same thing.

So I've started to remake my favourite SC3K building, Fortune Cookie Corp.  Tell me what you think.

I apologize for the overly large picture.
This is the original building in SC3K.

Also, please give me suggestions of other SC3K buildings to do.

Interesting, I'm not familiar much with earlier versions of Sim city (except classic lol) but I would like to see how that airport turns out. Good job 44.gif

All of this stuff is looking pretty good so far, although, I'd turn the lights down a bit on the airport. As for the glass on the tower, I'd go with something like this:

Anyway, keep up the great work!

Thanks DT, but think about this.....

If you're looking at the building from the top, the street and other buidings would be reflected in the glass, not the sky.  You think of sky because when you see a building, usually it't from the bottom, unlike simcity.

But thanks anyways!  I'll try it out and see how it looks.

Actually, I try to avoid building reflections in glass, since it does not match up with the street scene below. Instead, I use a graded cloud texture, and I utilize it in a way that the entire structure looks graded, rather than clouded, with a hint of clouds at the top. This looks more realistic, and lends to a more swirled mysterious relective property in the glass, rather than a what you see is not what you get look.

And Glenni, Do NOT get me started....11.gif
