Is it for the good of society or some other collectivist abstraction? I think not. If you support such a plan, you would think differently if it was you, your house, and your property that was clearly and unethically being aggressed upon by your government.

There is no property value to speak of when, on a block that should have 30 houses total, there are 15, 3 are occupied, and 12 are in varying stages of collapse , routinely set on fire, used for drug activity, waste dumping, etc. Above and beyond the safety issue, there are plenty of areas where they don't even have a nearby grocery provider let alone civic services.

That's not to say that this will be easy, or solve huge problems, for reasons mentioned above the farming idea is rather crackpot, but it's very neccesary.

Not particularly fond of Republicans myself, but I don't see how you can blame them on this one. Detroit and Michigan have been under Democratic leadership for quite some time. In fact, it's socialist policies that played a large role in the city's decline.

hmmm very interesting article. I for one think that this is a great idea! turn the oncce great and urban city of Detriot into semi rural. i like that idea!

this will be interesting in the next 5-10 years.
