Sorting Out Pollution

I've finally got a 'marginally' good city going but upon looking at the distance between my city and my factorys, the polution has been creeping up slightly towards the homes and it tells me to build more parks, which I have been doing, and by these 'parks' I take it them yeah the 2nd one accross in the decorations tab, aswell as the avatar parks.

I've been building these parks but still no luck in managing to bring the polution back towards the factories.

Anyone know how to get around this,

Regards,

Daniel.

The same for me, "Pollution is killing everything"! I really don't know how to manage this. Why does the oilfields and the harbour have

so much pollution?

Oilfields I get why they have so much pollution, but harbour, seriously I don't get that. Water pollution yes, a lot of noise yes, but real pollution, seriously NO. That is fake.

And I got the same problem to. I made a city once, did a huge load of avatar parks and normal parks, around 50% of the map. And still people were complaining like hell. Roads were green, pollution on roads were medium.

Seriously frustrating, it need to gets fixed.

It's fake thought.

I like in a city where there are factories, 2 parts of them, one is smelling very bad, but still only 5 meters from it, people just live without complaining and the prices of the houses are still 250.000 EUR. So, really weird hows it done here.

There's a mod you can download at http://www.citiesxs.net/forum/index.php/topic,1359.0.htmlquote>

Indeed, these trees have a 'cleaning effect' which the parks doesn't have.

I haven't tested it, but I think the pollution will reduce in a area around one tree.

My first findings: Placing one tree doesn't help, even if you put in 100 of them. You need to place forest pieces

(these are the one with the negative effect: air pollution, actually positive effect)

These forest reduce pollution only at the edges, so placing it around factory's doesn't help.

Yeah, but that mod is kinda hard to work with. It's even harder then the parks itself, you need to have a huge load of room, to get them placed and you cant get them placed near each other.

I think there should be a mod what reduces pollution to a normal way!

That's basically all we have to work with for getting rid of pollution .

Maybe there will be pollution scrubbers in Cities XL 2011?

We can always hope?

Granted its pretty tricky to deal with pollution in the city. Obviously the distance between your polluting type

buildings, and your buildings that are negitavely affected by it will be the best safeguard, this works quite well in CXL as the citizens satisfaction doesn't seem to go down with regards to commute times.

Trees certainly can help also. You will notice that the pollution decreases in intencity as it spreads away from the sorce, keep this in mind as your elite and executive folk (both resi and commerce)  will be very unhappy in the stronger zones.

Makes planning your city quite challenging.

I found the forest pieces to have a very dramatic effect , but only within the footprint of the forest, it dissipates rapidly from there. Unfortunately pollution spreads much further.

I have used the tried and tested "surround the factories with trees" technique and found I get red then bright green then red again as the non-polluting effects wear off, but the pollution remain.

I know nothing about modding but the area the trees affect just needs to be made bigger, as the impact is spot on, but just too concentrated. Can this be done?
