Is there an easy way to find the missing dependencies based on the building name?

 Hi,

I was quite saddened to see that a new (first grown) skyscraper had the little blue and red flag indicating that it was missing dependences pop up, and I also had a new apartment (large one too) start to grow in with the blue and red flag indicating missing dependencies.  I'd have to say that 99% of my plugins have their dependencies and now I'm just trying to clean up that last 1% of the 3.5GB of plugins that I've got installed.

So... Im wondering if there is a way to find the missing dependencies based on the name of the building that tried to grow in... For example I've got the following two buildings that I queried when they grew in to only show the red and blue flag (red and blue flag for those that don't know is a mod that shows a little red and blue flag instead of the brown boxes)

The names:

R$$7 2x2 Terracotta Mews Apts

CO$$7 3x3 City Tower

I think I'd be able to find those in my plugin folder maybe using Windows 7 search or a 3rd party search program but is there a way to find out what dependencies their actually missing?

I'm thinking maybe using loteditor to see what item is missing maybe, or maybe you all experts know the best way of dealing with this.

Thanks

I searched up the Terra Cotta Mews on the STEX and it says it has no dependencies.  Perhaps you have removed this file from your plugin folder, while the lot was still in your city?  I would try downloading it to see if that works.  The other lot has a pretty generic name to search for it on the STEX.  Check first to see if it is in your Plugin Folder.  Generally, when the main building is missing, it won't be in your plugins.  But some custom content designers do put their model files in separate folders as a dependency.  If you can't find the lot in your plugins, or by searching for it on the STEX, you may just have to bulldoze the lot(s).

If you do find it in Plugins, open it with the SC4 Tool.  To do this open the SC4 Tool, click on the menu item "Analysis".  It will take awhile to scan your files.  Then another window will open.  Click on the downward arrow next to "Scan" with the open file icon beside it.  Find the Plugin Folder in My Documents and expand it to find the lot which may be in a subfolder.  Click on the lot, and it will appear in the left menu.  Click on the + to expand the file.  A little green ball will appear next to the name of the lot.  Click on the name, and files will show up in a list in the right window.  Click on the + to the left of Required Files to expand it, and a check mark will appear in the far right column if the needed file is present.  An X indicates it is missing.

Edit: I fixed the link, changed it to the working download.  Sorry about that; thanks for including it in your post.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've downloaded the Terra Cotta Mews that you linked anyway, even though it doesn't contains the same file name that I found in the Lot Editor for this file which indeed has the building missing from the view in lot editor. According to how I had catagorized the plugin initially back in 2009 or maybe earlier, this should be a CAM Residential lot, although it wouldnt be the first time that I'd catagorized my plugins incorrectly.

There are three plugins in my plugins folder that have the title of Terracotta Mews R$$7_2x2_Terracotta_Mews_FR_939662b3.SC4Lot

    R$$7_2x2_Terracotta_Mews_LC_139662db.SC4Lot

    R$$7_2x2_Terracotta_Mews_RC_7396634a.SC4Lot

I'm off to download SC4 Tool and see what I can do. I'm sure if I downloaded it originally then there was a good reason, like the building was really nice or something so I'll go through the extra work to try to find it before I just remove it.

Again, thank you for the information and quick response.

It seems the link you provided to the SC4 Tool is no worky. It goes to the listing but when I click on the download link it just tells me Directory Listing not allowed.

But for anybody else that might come across this thread looking for it, I did find it on http://kurier.simcityplaza.de/details.php?file=315
