There's no way his family could be in any way held liable for anything here.

I meant the damages to his house not the building he flew into. The house is badldy damaged and it will cost alot of money to fix, if they choose to do so.

Disturbingly, central Texas along I-35 north of Austin seems to attract crazies, leaving a sad history.

Charles Whitman, the nationally infamous University Tower shooter, brought terror the Univeristy of Texas at Austin in 1966 in what became the deadliest campus rampage until the Virginia Tech shooting. Sniping pedestrians from the tower's 27th floor observation deck, Whitman pretty much established the modern idea of the campus shooting massacre. I used to walk by that tower wondering where I might flee for cover should something similar occur again.

The Luby's Massacre occurred in the town of Killeen just north of Austin in 1991, when a gunman crashed into pickup truck into a Luby's Cafeteria and began shooting. This would be the overall deadliest shooting rampage in the U.S. until again Virginia Tech. San Antonio-based Luby's Cafeteria has cafeteria-style restaurants all across Texas, but I still get uncomfortable sitting in one.

Fort Hood, just outside of Killeen, was the site of last November's mass shooting by an apparently self-radicalized Palestinian-American U.S. Army psychiatrist. It likely now ranks as the deadliest U.S. military workplace shooting. The paralyzed killer is now under guard at the Brooke Army Medical Center here in San Antonio.

Drive a little further north up I-35 towards Dallas, and you reach the town of Waco, scene of the infamous Waco Siege of the Branch Davidian sect led by self-styled messiah David Koresh, who led his cult followers into a shootout, massacre, and mass suicide against surrounding Federal agencies. The worst U.S. doomsday cult outside of Jim Jones's mass suicide at Jonestown, Guyana.

Drive through Dalllas and keep north on I-35, and you get to Oklahoma and Oklahoma City, site of the Oklahoma City Bombing, the single worst terrorist attack in the U.S. until the 9/11 horrors. A homegrown, anti-government milita terrorist at that. While we are here, the idea of "going postal" was born in the Oklahoma City metro area in 1986, when a disgruntled U.S. postal worker committed the worst workplace shooting in U.S. history.

And now we have private citizens deliberately flying their suicide planes into occupied buildings in Austin hoping to emulate all that previous devastation. A victim from this attack has also had to flown here to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, the same regional trauma facility currently treating the earlier Fort Hood mass murder. I know Belfast or Jerusalem have it far worse, but north-central Texas is not Northern Ireland during the Troubles or the West Bank during the intifada. What is wrong here?
