Single player cities connecting?

I went ahead and got cities xl last night even though I read that you may have to buy an expansion... I am hoping it will be a patch though.  I didn't want to wait around for it.

My first impression is its an over all good game.  I just have a couple questions.

Does anyone know FOR SURE if they will allow single player cities to be connected when cxl2011 comes out?? 

Also as it stands right now.. is it possible to build a 5million plus city in single player?

I think they didn't used to have trading with cities in sp but they do now?  Is that right?  Well, I hope that isn't an excuse to not connect cities. I think the way simcity4 had cities connected was good. I hope they implement the same system.

Well, I don't know what exactly do you mean by "connected". If you mean to be able to build a road and see it come out into the next city, as in SC4, then no (I think).

But the cities will be able to trade the way you can trade now in PO, which is also a connection. That is for sure. MC are working on this right now, they have mentioned something about a 'Plannet concept', which may involve more ways of connecting your cities, we don't know yet.

And yes, it is possible to build a 5 mln city now - I know people that have done it. It involves patience, though.
