Windows7 - Manually install update patch and SC4 Bat for nightlights

I'm going to reinstall Deluxe edition on new computer running Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit, and I want to download the game patch and Bat for nightlights manually.  Will these downloads automatically install to the correct folder in win7 when I extract the files or open (run) the file?  If not, where is the exact location in Windows7 that I should place them, ie. folder?  I know it's under x86, but thats all.  Help.

If you have a legal registeed copy of the game, the update instller can use the registry to find where Sim City is located.You shouldnt have to do anything.

Thank you for the help.  I just got the lights to work.  My problem was after I downloaded and unzipped the file, I didn't click run and install the updates.  The thing with Windows7 is -  it is complicated and confusing with downloads appearing in places that are hidden (compatible files) for example.  Once you figure out the difference between C drive and Cx86, it's easier, and always check the compatible tab.  But in the end, let the computer do the work and things run fine.  I'm goin to the stex now.
