Datpacker Help

The "superseed" message is related to duplicates of files, usually dependencies. One way to avoid this, is to remove older versions of e.g. props and textures before installing a mega pack (or similar). The Cleanitol was made especially for this purpose.

If you don't want to torment yourself with such a drastic revising of your plugins folder, you should know that DATPacker only compresses the latest version of that particular file (Thus, the old file is "superseeded"). Allthough a clean and updated plugin folder is recommended, "superseeded" files shouldn't impact your game after using the DATPacker.

For more information, see this thread.

With virtually no exceptions, the plugins_compressed folder will functionally exactly replace all folders in your plugins. (don't forget to take the old stuff out after packing or you're just chasing your tail). It allows faster and more performance out of your hardware simply by "pre-doing" some of the work. The existance of "superseeded" files doesn't HAVE TO mean that you have a problem, but it probably does... it certainly should be looked at to see what is the cause. Oh, and DatPacker packs EVERY FILE that is an SC4 file.. it doesn't "skip" anything.. it just overlays the "latest" read over the earlier stuff. This MAY give you the result you want or it MAY give "wrong" results. You need to understand what causes the problem and remove those that are inappropriate. A sloppy plugins folder is the cause of many folk's SC4 problems (unrelated to DatPacker).
