First before you start you have to know what kind of building you have. If you downloaded a building, a .desc file should have come with it. If you modified a Maxis building you need to find the .sc4lot that you created when doing so.

It should not matter what type of lot it is, Residental Commercial and Inudstral lots are all modified in the same way.

Find out which file you have and know where it is.

You will have to open that file using Reader. To Open a file using reader, start it up then use file> Open

1.just open the file in reader. Its name should appear on a panel on the left under a picture of a puzzle piece.

2. One of the wealth should have a file that is the same name as your lot. Click on that.

3. When you click on the puzzle piece something will appear in the middle panel One of the things in the list should say "Exemplar File" click on the lowest one of thoose

4. There should now be more proeprties to the right side. One of them is "Capcity Satisfied"  that is where it says the number of jobs. Double click on it to open it. If it does not have capcity satisfied that it is not the right file

5. There should now be a box with some numbers in it. The numbers Go like this:

Resident or Worker Type ($)

Number Of Residents or Workers ($)

Resident or Worker Type ($$)

Number Of Residents or Workers ($$)

Resident or Worker Type ($$$)

Number Of Residents or Workers ($$$)

If you have a low wealth then only low wealth will be there, Medium has Medium and Low, and High has all three.

6. Now that you know what the numbers are its time to change them. Change The Number of Residents or Workers Numbers (Every Second number) to how many residents you want to have. Then Press Apply at the bottom.

7. Save the Lot and Close it you now have a lot with how many residents or workers you want it to have.
