Round round

I got this little problem: buses from nowhere go round. I guess image helps explain things: 21057819.jpg The thing is, this green route goes trough four cities. And this is the route where these buses go. In the morning they go clockwise, and in the evening - counter clockwise. Now I know there is a bug when sims go INTO the circle and round if four cities connect near their boundaries. This leads to abandonment I guess. But in my case, these buses don't come from anywhere and there is a very little no none abandonment in my cities. And this is not the only circle with ghost buses in my region. How to get rid of them? Using SC4:RH with latest patches, NAM and SimZ2.2 Euro (the same problem existed with earlier versions as well). Edit: And how to write from new line? It seems that forum strips out the new line symbol..

Well, the situation is more or less as follows:

1) Sims in City 1 look for work. It turns out that the way to City 2 (where there are supposed to be working opportunities) by bus is shorter than the way to any working opportunity within City 1. As soon as the buses reach the edge of the map, these sims are dealt with - as far as City 1 is concerned.

2) Upon arrival in City 2, the sims from City 1 look for work again. The same mechanism kicks in.

3) Upon arrival in City 3, ... you guess how the story continues.

This occurs particularly often in corners of city maps, because at the corners, the way from one city to the next is very short. If the sims had to cross an entire city map, they'd choose other paths. But since they only need to travel a few tiles around the corner, the way into the next city is preferred.

Btw, you can take advantage of this effect with toll booths. 2.gif

Yes, T Wrecks, that is a way to take advantage of it. Sadly however, the Eternal Commuterloop, from which yikes911 is suffering has more bad things than good ones. How to get rid of it? Remove the connections close to the corners of the cities and wait a few game years.

Regards,

Korot

its like this

the sims in city 1 are " picky " in some sorts of the word, if they live near the edge of the map the will work in city 2, but now the jobs in city 2 become quickly filled, so people from city 2 must work in city 3, the jobs in city 3 become filled and the people from city 3 commute to city 4, the jobs in city 4 become filled and those people from city 4 commute to city one ( they take the jobs that the people wont work in city 1), they will keep doing this until A.) more job opportunites opens in one of the cities, or B,) a city starts to loose its sims rapidly to another metropolis.
