Stupid newbie question - sorry!

Sorry for the ridiculously dumb question but I did quite a few searches on various sites and found no answer to my query. I am wondering how to curve railroad tracks and how to put roads on a diagonal.

I was building my first city yesterday and wondering why my sims weren't using most of the railway stations and realised after a bit of research that my junctions were 90 degrees which means the trains can't turn the corner. So how do you turn the tracks to continue onwards? I presume it is a similar trick to make the roads go diagonal too?

Thanks for any help.

Hmm. To make roads go diagonal, just drag them on a diagonal direction.

And to answer your railroad question...

In real life, rail roads cannot make a sharp 90 degrees turn because that will derail the trains going through. So, for you to be able to curve your tracks, make a short diagonal line, as illustrated below:

And by the way, your question is not stupid after all. 4.gif

In addition, if you desire more smooth, realistic curves on your networks, search the STEX for Network Addon Mod...it contains puzzle pieces to make much smoother curves (especially handy in creating realistic railroads).

Keep calm and take photographs.
