Question about having two cities

   Hello I looked briefly on this forum and did not find what I am going to ask.  Sorry if I did miss it though.

I have my city that I have put time into however I can not afford an airport.  I made a city right beside my main city and put an airport on that city.  Will having an airport in the second city be useful to my main city?  Also what are the perks to having an airport?  I built the med grade one.

I think airport lowers the Commercial Cap of a city, but nothing else. That benefit would not transfer into a neighboring city.

Erranty: An airport raises the Commercial CAP of a city. By doing so, more commercial buildings can be build in that city, which calls for an increased RES demand in your neighbouring city. Thus they are somewhat useful to neighbouring cities, but not as much as actually clearing some space and building the airport in the neighbouring city itself. If you do not want/can afford the in-game airports, try the functional airports released by the AC team on the LEX.

Lest you be confused, "No, airports have nothing to do with transportation". As mentioned it is for "CAP" (capacity) relief. If you were not near a cap for your city it doesn't give much advantage at all, and is a cost liability if built too early. The only things that help transportation between cities is to link them with road, rail, highways, etc. I am assuming the cities are adjacent. If they are seperated by more than one tile, no solution will really help much as it will give very high commute times. Also an airport in one city does not count as an airport in nearby cities. You will have to put some form of airport into each city as it needs it.
