Schools radiate by a process similar to how freight works.  It appears that they also stack.  By that I mean, if you sit one of each  type together they appear to add up.  See this screen shot.

This image shows four schools set inthe center of the map on  a expressway. As you can see this  appears to be a very good way to set schools.  However traffic would efffect this adversely.

I have done similar testing with different objects and my study shows that the closer the residential homes are to the City Hall, the greener the satisfaction.

For example: retail. Its even pread over the whole map, but its only green at the edge/corner of the map where my City Hall is. The other edges/corners are yellow, even tho the roads are hard green. The same with entertainment, police and firefighters. Either the overlays are damned to hell, or the city hall plays a big roll in how the satisfaction works.

I've done a lot of testing and here are my findings.  Schools are a freight or traffic effect.  The better the roads they are connected to the better they work.  They also stack, that is if you locate them  all at one point, the effect adds together, as long as each is different.  Since schools effect is,

    Elementary School 25 radiuss 200m

    Middle School 20 radius 300m

    High School 15 radius 400m

    Private School 10 radius 500m

That would means the total would be 70.  I believe the radius of effect refers to the effect of the schools on each other.  Effectively that means the closer they are to each other the closer to the maximum of 70 you get.  If they are not in each others radius than the effect you get will max out at forty assuming good roads, less the further they are apart.

    Sainty,

It appears that City Hall acts as a landmark, which gets stronger as you go up in size.  But it doesn't show up on any of the panels.  I infer it from the behavior of the things around it.  In addition businesses of any type adversely affect the enviroment.

    Edit:

I forgot to mention that the screenshot was done with no connection to the city, when connected and all job slots filled the effect is much stronger than pictured.
