Network Addon Mod and mayor rating.

I just downloaded and installed the NAM (June 2009) with its attending patch.

I read all the readmes and selected carefully my choices.

I went into the game to start playing my cities.

Each one with maxed out mayor rating suddenly started going into the negative.

Further I was getting the message that warehouses were stuffed.

Checking my transportation map all of my seaports and freeways were getting heavy freight truck use out of the city.

Other than a few streets being orange, I have no other transportation issues, all of my stations (bus and subway) are green or yellow. nearly all of my commute is short to medium with a few long commutes. the long commutes are going out of town (I assume by choice since I have lots of industry and commercial that are low in having their jobs filled).

What did I do wrong?

Is there a way to fix it to where I can use my city and the NAM?

Or do I have to start my cities over?

If it helps, I'm using Pathing Z Ultra pathing.

Thats your problem, you're using to path finding things which is having a problem.

Basicly NAM is a better path finding system (among many other things) and Z Ultra should NOT be used with it.

Remove it and see if that solves your problem.

When changing simulators, there is an 'adjustment' time for things to be recalibrated and evened out. This sometimes takes 10 years or more depending on the size of the city. Also, since you mentioned heavy freight truck usage, do you have any rail connections? This could lower the truck traffic.

The Z Simulator is included as an option in NAM.

I could be wrong, but I haven't seen anything about anything in particular. Of course, the simulators are always undergoing continual testing, so maybe something has come up. At least at this point in time, I've not seen nor had any problems with 'Z', though it may depend on the cities it is being used in. Just a thought...

The Nam installer allows one to select different pathings. I figured that since I'm going to be using those extra street/avenus things like curves and roundabouts that I should use one of the pathings.

Yes I have rail, but they sims don't seem to like rail when it comes to freight.

Passenger trains are on average 40 to 50% in use already. Freight stations, right next to industral zones are not being used by the sims anymore.

In one city I have a cargo ship port. Previously it was nearly maxed out, now its being used around 200.

Absolutely not.  As both the author of Simulator Z and a member of the NAM Team, I can say that definitively.  As CaptCity pointed out, SImulator Z is is included as one of the NAM simulators; the NAM Team would not have included it if there were known incompatibilities between it and the NAM.

EDIT: BowynAerrow, did you by any chance install the Park & Ride versions of Simulator Z?  The Park & Ride versions of the traffic simulators are intended for a very special type of city, and will not work in standard cities.  They are described fully in the NAM Readme.  If you installed the Park & Ride version, simply re-run the NAM Installer, and pick the version that does not have "Park & Ride" after its name.

No just the Z Ultra one.

Anyway last night I let the city run for 20 sim years, it has remained in average very low in the mayor rating.

I did add some new zones to the edges of the city, a mix of low density residential, low density commericial with a few plots of high density industrial and medium density residential mixed with medium density commercial. The Mayor rating map shows these new areas as totaly green.
