Can't build university

I have a city of over 100k people, my mayor's rating is in the high 60's, my education rating is around 180, and yet the university is completely unavailable for me to build.

Is this a known bug? Does anyone know of any solutions?

If the game doesn't seem to go your way... step out of realism to attain what you want and use the unlock cheat. Cntrl + X , then type "you don't deserve it" to unlock the university and everyother unlockable rewards.

Just don't get your shirt in a knot.  The university is a big land hog for the benefit you get, and if you just hang-in a bit, you'll get it.  If you want to accelerate its arrival, drop in a large high-school somewhere (you can bulldoze it later).  There seems to be a crypto-trigger on the number of schools you have.

well thx for the answer, but that trigger doesnt seem to come. my region has 5,000,000 pop and all cities have a university. just this particular one with currently 250k pop, doesnt get it triggered. i got the other awards like mail library and opera house, a well educated system and a maxed out major rating.

i read somewhere that more schools or high school could trigger the university arrival, so i build several more. i waited 10 years, and still no university.

im sure its a trigger of some sort, but it still is strange.. i did sort of exactly the same as in my other cities and they got offered the uni quite quickly.

so more ideas are welcome!

When you get the univerity do you just plop it on the ground in your city?  I usually start a new business pod using it as a center.  It attracts commercial, and if I can still start a farm when I get it, I plunk down an experimental farm next to it (rename the farm).

Generally, a university in one of my cities is a mini-city in itself.  If the demands are right, I even zone a little I-HT near it.
