Standard Edition vs Limited Edition

I pre-ordered a limited edition of XL from EB, but unwittingly bought, installed, and activated the standard edition.

EB claims that I hadn't specified that I wanted the limited edition, and when I asked MC if I could purchase an upgrade, they said no.  Fair enough, but they also told me that once my game has been activated, it cannot be sold to anyone else because it's a one-time activation.

This is absurd..   I think that I should be able to sell my own property, should I not?  It's not as though I'm renting the game, and selling the game does not in any way infringe on MC's rights as the holders of the intellectual property, so I don't understand this restriction.

Now I'm stuck paying full price twice if I want the extra content found in the limited edition.

Booo.

Well that's the issue.  I specifically stated that I wanted the limited edition, but the guy ordered the standard, and assuming that he could perform the simple task of ordering the requested version, I never bothered to check the receipt, so it's a case of my word vs. his, and that's a battle that I lose.

Lesson learned on that front, but regardless, I should be able to re-sell a game that I paid for and no longer want.

I, and an ever-growing number of others, are really starting to take issue with how MC 's conducts their business.

The "Limited Edition" isn't particularly limited, is it?

It's still widely available, so that's not particularly limited...

There's extra content, so that's not limited either...

Anyone have any clue what's "limited" about it?

Anyhow, to the OP, the price is coming down all the time (eg 50% off at Steam today, 24 hour sale) so if you're really desperate wait until the price drops to something you're more comfortable paying. I've got my money on it being $10 within two months. The major revenue stream for XL is PO, after all. They may as well give the client away for free.

It is limited to the number they can sell.

Really the price has drop already? That can not be a good thing

It's a real shame that the guy at EB screwed up and didn't order you the correct version, but still - reselling games is usually against the EULA of most software and games that you'll buy nowadays, so if you wish to "take issue with how MC conducts their business" with this regard, then you should also to take it up with Valve, EA and most other games publishers out there as they will not allow you to resell their game either.
