CraterBayPostCard02.jpg

Welcome to CraterBay,my name is Jay Konvick, self made millionare.Having made my fortune young,

I decided to retire from the cut throat buisness of advertising and setteled here in little old CraterBay on a catttle ranch.

Having proved very adept at the cattle buisness,I am now the largest rancher for 300 miles around and in recognition of

my achievements the local inhabitants here in CraterBay have seen fit in all their glorious wisdom to elect myself Mayor of

this mundane little hell hole.Wether they like it or not I have big planes for this place and due to my new political

connections(all be they still very limited)I have found out through the grape vine that the IronTrust Steel corporation

has bought up land outside of town and is planing to build a new foundry, big foundry means lots of workers and lots of workers

need lots of homes. So I've gone and bought myself an ailing construction company from the big city and am gonna give these

people what they need.

The Town of Crater Bay

Well now, thats my nice cattle ranch there to the south east and old man Marley's dairy farm on the north side of west street,

now old man Marley is on deaths door and knowing it's not long before he kicks the bucket,he has wisely accepted my somewhat

minimal financial offer for his holdings and so it is here i begin my new career as a Mayor/property developer and so the bulldozers

of JKon developments roll in onto old man Marleys dairy farm.

Welcome to Bovine Fields.(named in memory of old man Marley, may he rest in peace)

Not bad for my first housing project, clean, repeditive and most importantly,

affordable housing, just what the average steel worker needs.

    Crater Bay Update 01

It seems the IronTrust Steel Corp. overstepped their planing permission and sneaked a few production plants

in behind their foundries,so I've made a deal with them,I keep my mouth shut, they give me the contract on all

future constuction projects. With this i was informed that they are the parent company of one EcoFriends Chemical

Corporation and that i will be developing their new site outside of town and that they will require housing

for a more qualified(just better paid)class of employee.

    IronTrustSteelCorp01.jpg

    IronTrust Steel Corp.

Now it seems old Misses O'Rielly,a sheep farmer south of west street, and Mr Marley had a bit of a thing going and with the demise of her secret lover,

fearing she couldnt go on alone, decided to take her own life.Leaving no will and testimony,i have managed to secure

her property south of west street at a reasonable price at public auction and am going about drawing up plans for our residential

development for the "more qualified class of worker".We will also be developing an additional Bovine fields Phase II

to accomodate employee's of the extra Steel Corp. plants.

    OvineDalesPhaseI01.jpg

Work gets under way on Ovine Dales and bovine fields phase II

    IndustrialRegion01.jpg

Meanwhile Irontrust finish their plant and JKon Dev.goes to work on the EcoFriends Chemical site.

I like the story line. That's how many towns and cities were built in America, one strong willed business man using his power to get things done. I like where this is going.

Thanks for all the replies guy's.

    BradySeitz-

Wait till i worm my sons into office, then we will see strong will and know all about gettting things done.

    Kryptowhite-

To be honest, its prettyness aside,i have to admit it has many draw backs and i wasnt very impressed with it to begin with but its growing on me fast and im very intrested to see where it goes when modding gets into gear.

    Rorciak-

I wuldnt worry too much,You cant really screw up and youve so much money so quick you can take things down and rebuild all you want till it looks right for you.

    jeremy12-

Do you mean at the CJ section here at simtrop or a Cj at citiesXL site?

    Kevinman-

I suspect with property becoming sparse around town that as soon as my legal eagles have sorted through all the land rights around here we will see more sprawl into the farm lands.

So far there has been no real plan involved in this town and i have only been building with a view to keeping progression as close to how i feel it may happen in real life while still meeting the ingame demands.(partly to determine how realistic the game demands are) and think i will keep at it like so.With time on my hands today, there should be a couple of updates.

    Crater Bay Update 02

It seems IronTrust Steel Corp. have been using the readily available seawater in their cooling process leading to impurities in their steel,

as a quick fix they have constructed some rust proofing plants while i go in search of a fresh water source for them.(at their expense of course)

They get their water,I get paid and the town gets a cheaper water source, everybody wins. While my son Jay(my newly appointed utilities director)

goes in search of water i continue work on our current projects.

    IndustrialRegion03.jpg

Continued development of the EcoFriends chemical plant and the new rustproofing plant in the back ground.

    BovineFieldsPhaseII04.jpg

Continued development of bovine fields phase II and the completion of Ovine Dales has led to a demand for health care and education.

    BovineFieldsPhaseII02.jpg

My Wife, now the director of health and education designates a zone off west street for educational fascilities. This area will provide all our students sports fascilities also.(built at my expense and dedicated to the town of course, earning me brownie points with the locals.

    TrafficCongestion01.jpg

The boom in population sees the old coast road bumper to bumper.

    TrafficFix01.jpg

Upgrading to large avenue has done little to solve the problem, perhaps they all just came out to test the nice new road at once, someone might be getting the sack, now which clown decided on a large avenue?

    HarborView01.jpg

Until planning permission and zoning in town(some of the old foggies dont agree with so much change)work begins on the Harbour View buisness park just west of the new Coast road.

    CoastRoadMall01.jpg

The completion of bovine fields phase II and ovine dales see's work begin on ovine dales phase II to the right and the increase in demand for retail see's work begin on the C.D Miller shoping mall just across from the newly completed school so moms have something to do while their brats are on detention.(really something for me to do while my brats are on detention).

    Crater Bay Update 03

Having recently appointed my youngest son Mark as trade director,he advised me to to get into the distribution buisness and so i went about building a warehousing complex and within days, manufacturers were requesting planning permission in the area.

    Manu04.jpg

JKon Distributions new complex provides abundant storage fascilities,on site office, big rig loading and parking bays and of coarse a diner for those hungry truckers. Also my convieniant placement of the entrance and exit means all trucks manage to avoid the state weighting station across the road, meaning my transport rates are lower then my competitors and as you can see, potential customers are flocking in already.

    HarborView02.jpg

The completed Harbour View buisness park see's the arival of our first hotel.

    OvineDalesPhaseII02.jpg

Ovine Dales phase II nears completion and plans for multi story accomodation to deal with the influx are under way.

    CraterBay09.jpg

Development of the distribution center and the BrackenHill manufacturing site in the north east have led to the need for a new road linking them with the industrial sites and new housing estates are already under way along it.

This week see's the early launch of The Bay View residential complex.Executive living for the Executive lifestyle.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_4.jpg

Complete with pool and retail stores and a promenade to come.Having a bit of trouble gettting retail stores in and the and the plans for tennis courts by the pool had to be scraped because someone forgot to check what size area was needed,do executives bowl?perhaps a bowling alley will suffice for now.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_6.jpg

The heliport has proved a big success with those busy little exec's.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_1.jpg

And the grand opening of St. Andrews Park Terraces was a big success, they lit the place up like a christmass tree.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_15.jpg

    Inside St. Andrews Park.

Mark my trade director realised i was paying far too much for our concrete supplies and saw fit to build our own cement plant.

my sons quest for fresh water was sucssesful.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_12.jpg

Our new pumping station in the background and the still under development St. Georges estate.

And during land surveys for water my son ran across black gold, yes siree ,black gold a said.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_13.jpg

Apparently in the world of monte cristo you have to go all the ways out to the source if you want to fill your tank.I mean come on Monte,if your gonna go to the hassel of designing a gas station then atleast put it in commercial where we can use the damned thing in a realistic way.

Turns out Irontrust Steel Corp. werent just pinching sea water for their cooling process, they were dumping it back in when they were finished. The Eco warriors have had a freakout.Once again my sons put their heads together and convinced Irontrust to do something green, much to our advantage.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_11.jpg

They went and installed far more wind turbines then they needed and so our town is now powered by irontrust.

During the frackas with the eco warriors they said they were moving some security in down here to help guard their plants.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_2.jpg

Now theyve only gone and moved their entire security devision down here,a little extreme for a few eco warriors wouldnt you say. This property is ringed in by a road that is constantly patroled by their security cars.I suspect there is something a little more sinister at play here.

    Reply's-

Thanks to Larks and Kevinman, its really nice to know someone else is enjoying your efforts.

    Crater Bay Update 05

Not much gossip around town this week i'm afraid.Rumor has that a few locals have taken legal action against the EcoFriends Chemical Corp.

in a bid to get them to move their operations away from here. They in turn have applied for planning permission to expand their operations,

Something to do with their lawyers using it as a bargaining chip. With the planning permission granted this week for the first sky scrapers

in Crater Bay the Irontrust Steel Corp. have seen fit to expand their plant again. didnt tell them i was getting my steel in future from one

of their competitors at a lower price until i had finished building the new plant, obviously relations are a bit sour at the moment. But they

need me on their side in the chemical fiasco so for once i have the upper hand with them. This week also saw the arrival of our first hightech

companies and the sudden boom in population has forced me to expand JKon distibutions fascilities.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_5.jpg

Expansion of the IronTrust Steel plant

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_1.jpg

The first so called hightech companies arrive.Could someone please explain to me how a bogroll factory and a light buld factory fall into the catagory of hightech.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_3.jpg

    The new Harbour point complex.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_4.jpg

The continued expansion of St. Andrews Park. the park did nothing to apease the wealthies constant demand for one.We also see here our first buildings starting to reach for the sky.I'm sure with each company trying to out do their competitors they will be popping up all over the place now.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_0.jpg

And finaly, the expansion of our warhouse fascilities over at Jkon Dist.

This week we will be looking to expand our appeal to big buisness and also looking into expanding out to some of the local islands.

    Replies-

    Thanks salt and vinigar

Archean-To be honest, unless Monte do something about some of the very serious problems with this game and the doors are opened for some very serious modding i dont think this will be stealing me away for too long, the game has fantastic potential it just hasnt be exploited, hopefully some good modding will.I do prefere the small towns, and then just see where it goes from there.

    Crater Bay Update 06

To everyones surprise, especially the EcoFriend Corp. the locals won their case and they have been forced to move their plant further south.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_3.jpg

not the best pic i'm afraid.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_4.jpg

complete with its own offices, logistics department and warehousing and rumor has it they are going to cough out for a new state of the art residential project right outside their plant so staff have no excuse for being late.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_5.jpg

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_6.jpg

    The onsite offices.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_0-Copy.jpg

In a bid to prevent our unqualified workers living right on the front door of IronTrust Corp,we've had to start stacking them on top of each other.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_10.jpg

The lights come on in the getto.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_1-Copy.jpg

Our qualified workers dont seem to mind living on top of each other as long as they have a nice view

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_2.jpg

And the big corperations have started the who's got the biggist game.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_7.jpg

Just threw this one in cause i really like it.

    And last but not least

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_12.jpg

Yes believe it or not,the residents of the Bay View executive living complex, the force behind the modern financial world, voted for a go cart track, not a fancy night club or expensive strip joint,a go cart track.

Next update should see us move onto one of the local islands and i've been neglecting my cattle ranch and the wife has a big todo list there for me.Till then, take care.

    Crater Bay Update 07

Well we had to put all our projects on hold due to special request from the owner of the IronTrust Steel Corp. One Mr Rusty Nail. After informing me that he and his family were moving to beautiful Crater Bay he requested that we construct a residential complex befitting a man of his status.

    01.jpg

This 8 tower complex took me hours,on closer inspection you can see why.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_5.jpg

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_7.jpg

Achieving this detail around all the roads and walkways proved to be a far challenging then expected, largely in thanks to some of the games very unpredictable behavior when using road intersections very close together. It's done by laying out the rough patern with simple roads and then running small roads in their place.not as easy as it sounds.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_8.jpg

Want to know whats on in the city tonight, visit the central information center.

    Crater Bay Update 08

Not much to show today as i spent yesterday trying to figure out how to manipulate the ground relief using roads, with little sucsess, game seems to do as it pleases when it pleases. The growing population has led to the expansion of the city dump this week and due to the fact that these people dont know what recycling is i expect it to expand again by the weeks end. They dont want me to dump their crap anywhere near them but continue to demand i find some where to keep dumping it.Well the beautifully scenic St. Georges hill has bore the brunt of it.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_1.jpg

The garbage inches it's way towards the summit.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_0.jpg

    View from the summit.

    cxl_screenshot_craterbay_2.jpg

A view from atop the incendery unit.

Hope to have a full update later tonight.
