Advanced Terraforming

Terraforming on itself can have a massive effect on your City's efficiency and offcourse it's looks.

Now in Sim City we where used to a GRID like way of Terraforming while in Cities XL we are VERY limited and can only DOT around in 3 grades.

Now wiht the help of planting Bridges, Tunnels and then using the DOT system alogn with placing roads we CAN get somewhat of a good result but it takes ALOT of time and is imprecise.

Been testing myself and it is pure pain, doable ...but the end result is never really perfect or simatrical.

For a nice example check Ciast City from Auriga. Lots of credits to him for managing the Terraforming bit that far.

As you can see on his bridges, ellevations it is a tough job getting that result and not always perfect, or simatrical.

Hope we can get some more tools for terraforming in the future as this will have a massive impact on how our cities will FUNCTION and LOOK......I dare to say this will be a MAJOR addition to this game next to MASS TRANSIT and balancing services.

Hell so far hats of to the creators...and hope they can continue on to improve the game till such a level that modders won't have anything to add 2.gif

I agree, more terraforming tools are needed and I would prefare that before the mass transit system.

Especially needed is a tool to smooth out a slope between to different levels.

I enjoy the fact that terraforming is very difficult.  When I check out what other players have done with the same map it is a very direct comparison.  If terraforming were easier there wouldn't be that continuity.

Right now it's very interesting to see how people make the most of maps with very little flat area.  With terrraforming it would be more about how much flat area you can create instead of the current game of making the most with the flat area you have.

Maybe someday it would be interesting, but IMO there's still plenty to do without terraforming.

The hill on the left is one I constructed on the right a natural slope I modified.  You can do this with bridges.
