It depends. Before the game crashes what are you doing? Doing being laying roads, plopping, zoning and what not. SC4 has a lot of crashing issues so you may have to be more specific. And um... you might want to post you computer specs and what not.

My game crashes sometimes when I zoom out. Before I downloaded things from the STEX, it didn't happen. Some Lots or Bats just make my game crash, I think. Which ones, I don't know.

My solution is just to save the game very much. I think moving over the map whilst zooming out also helps. I have only seen my game crashing, when I zoomed out when I didn't move over my city.

when I insert a Highway tollbooth, and laying (streets) not roads, only streets around - my game crash.

Another thing, when I do some buildings historical - example - (Dennys Diner) - the game crash to.

Sometimes I can't save the City and go back to region, my game will also crash there... he he damn :/

others having the same problems??

About Denny's, placing one seemed to make the game crash constantly wether I saved or not, even in cities without a Denny's. Could've also been the Dairy Queen, Pizza Hut or Tops Grocery, that was around the time the Consta-Crashing started

Game crash to desk top is common.  One of the causes is puzzle pieces loaded on your cursor and then touching a transit enabled lot.  This is a known problem and is being addressed by the NAM  team.

The others are a bug or bugs in the game.  They are manifested by a null or destroyed pointer being dereferenced causing an ACCESS_VIOLATION dump (quite genuine).  Since fixing this would require access to the source code of the game and a recompilation, we can do nothing.  Over the years EA has expressed no interest in either doing the job or releasing the source code, even under a non-disclosure agreement.  Their lawyers must be a singularly paranoid lot.

If you have a fast enough machine, run in software rendering, which seems to reduce the frequency of these, but save a lot anyway.  The in-game-save keyboard shortcut is CTRL+s.
