Patching keeps failing.

the game keeps telling me i need a new version of the game to install the latest patch, i get the same message multiple time, but says i need a even more new version each time??? does this even make sense???

i bought the game on steam.

Same here. It tries to install the update but then an error message comes up: "Error data decompression Corrupted Installer?" then it continues to "installing Win32shipping.dll" or something then just hangs there. Disappointing.

One option you could try is to look in your citiesxl program directory for the patch exe programs. There are probably several.

* Copy those patch installers

* Remove CitiesXL

* Re-install CitiesXL

* Copy the patch installers back into the new CitiesXL program directory

* Run the patches in order.

i have already tried to remove/re-install the game.

What is the CXL folder called with the patches in it?

This might seem pretty stupid, but i show you exactly what happends.

And these are the messages i get...

After this message does nothing happend.

Your installation folder should be somewhere like C:\Program Files\etc....\etc....

Right click on the game shortcut, pick properties, and look at where it points to for the exact folder and file locations.

haha, I have been through this ***** before and found the solution and reported it to support

the problem is with the update file.

note that YOU CAN NOT UPDATE BY CLICKING ON THE PATCH FILES MAUALLY

because they do not know where u game is installed

here is what u need to do:

run command prompt then type this:

cd C:\Users\[your user name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Monte Cristo\Cities XL

note: i am on Windows 7, u need to find this location for windows xp, it could be different

Just tried it, only made the first step said it failed, started CXL, it worked! ? so could there be a bug with the first update, because i had Steam installed on my external hard drive, so i might not find the folder?
