This is my first attempt at a Journal. I think I read most of the guidelines. Please let me know if I have violated anything and I will correct my ways......

This is a large region. I d/l the map from the Maps section on here a long time ago. I forget who uploaded it or what area it is. Thank you for the map. The city layout is my own. There are 150+ cities to build.......

The only cheat I used was the God Mode Tree cheat to add trees after I had created the city. I now know how to add the trees faster when I initialize a city. So, no more cheats. The only mod I have added is the industry-quadrupler-2.dat.

My overall plan is to let the cities evolve in as close to my version of realistic as I can get.

I intend to create this region using a Phase Method. Here are the goals for Phase 1 :

1] Initialize all the cities that border the river
2] Create a continuous road thru all of the cities
3] Use 90% low density zones. No High density
4] Integrate Shipping early on
5] Populate medium cities to 4k +/-
6] Populate large cities to 20k +/-
7] Give the cities minimal perks until $$ get back to 200k

Here are some images from the region :

I have corresponding Transportation captures if anyone wants to see them. Not sure if this is too many captures to post at once.

Let me know what you think.

PS : This is my second region in SC4. My first, has over 250 cities. All initialized and populated. However, I never took any screen caps. Plus, I learned alot by making many, many mistaks and have lost interest in that region for now.

first off, welcome to Simtropolis, excalibur225.
second off, you are off to an excellent start. i love the set up of your little towns and farms dotted along the river - looks very realistic.

EDIT; perhaps Welcome to your first post would have been more appropriate - saw you have been around since late '03 - the ultimate lurker 2.gif

That's a big region! I agree it could use some topography though.
Well, let's see some closeups!

PS I noticed the spelling, too, but hey, it's his city, he can spell the name however he wants. Did you know Cleveland is misspelled?

I agree with Mr Cinatit; very natural appearance from the satillite view!

About the mounts: well not neccassarily needed IMO. Camalot was supposedly well fortified and miles of grassy plains would fit well into a storyline; you would see the enemy encampments long before they arrived and no one could form a surprise siege on a flat un-obstructed plain. So I say excellent map for Camalot, friend!

Keep on keepin' on!

Great start! I like how you set up an outline of the region at the beginning, so we all know what to expect down the road.

Sounds promising! Can't wait for an update 44.gif

You've made a very promising start with your first cj! The terrain and the little villages along the river look just awesome, very realistic. I wish you luck on this one, and I will be keeping an eye on it.

    Thanks for all the comments.

I am starting Phase 2 today.

I did some looking around and found the source of the map that I used. It is Washington, DC, USA. Here is the link : Washington, DC, USA submitted by comdude21 . Thank you comdude21.

I like the idea of playing a real region's topography. Just making a few changes to the land that the city can afford. For instance, I used the mayor mode tools to change the terrain so that the seaports could be built.

I did notice the typo and changed it. Wow, you guys pick up everything. I love peer review. Now, how can I change the name here in the CJ forum?

    Before I go on :

Here are the transport maps showing the continuous road along the river.

Can you hear bridges screaming, Build me, Build me?

Look's like a nice start, I like the river scheme. Your CJ could be the Holy Grail of CJs

I suppose King Arthur is the mayor..

Hey, that is DC. It's just scaled a lot bigger than DC, so it through me.

Unfortunately, I don't think you can change the name of your thread yourself. Perhaps if you contact a moderator?
