Custom Graphics Settings?

Is there any way to manually configure the graphics settings? I've only seen 'low, medium, high' etc at the moment. For someone like myself on a relatively old yet still chugging along rig this makes it pretty tough to get the best out of the games visuals. For example I always disable Shadows on games, as I'd rather have the extra FPS, or in-place for a bump in another area.

I can play smoothly on Medium until the cities start to get really large. I would like to fine tune my graphics settings. If anyone knows how, be it via a config file or ingame, I would greatly appreciate it!

this thread in CXL Custom Content Creation forum might be usefull, but i'd like to find more mod info to create my own config files ;))

For old but high-end graphical card owners

@earwax_man - why did you put SC4 related video on CXL Technical Issues forum? just to annoy us? (SC4 post was removed)

illustration how my shadows look like (see stepping of shadow from the building and flickering of shadows under trees)

best visible in fullscreen HD (strange transitions when zooming out is an video encoding problem, not CXL..)

@jeremy12: if I understand, you want better AA on regular objects instead of on shadows.. so, why did you stop on 8x multisampling?

if you have nVidia, try to download nHancer and set AA to supersampling or combined - well, you might end up with 20fps whatever high-end your card is, but if better AA is really what you want.. for ATI i don't know what options you have, maybe 16x AA ?

no it has something to do with the engine its self and the draw distance  the more i change it it does not seem to affect it unless up close
