Would you like some suggestions?

Firstly NAM;

The Network Addon Mod add and changes the games transportation options alot.

It adds, trams, tram in road, Tram in street, tram in avenue, el rail over road, roundabouts and much more!!!!

Also you can install a new traffic simulator (i have simulator Z) which makes the times, speeds and distence's more acurate.

NAM is avalible on the first page of the popular downloads page on the STEX.

RHW;

The Rural Highway Project takes advantage of a "dirt road" that maxis left in the game. It reskins them using starter pieces to create from 2 lane to 10 lane highways!!

A new addtition is the MIS (modular interchange system and yes another abriviation!) is a set included in the download that you can use to create any kind of junction you want!

SAM;

Street addon mod, changes the surfave of streets to whatever you want .

Good luck!!!1.gif

I agree. When I take breaks of like a month or so, I realize how good the game once was when I get back. 4.gif Sometimes you just need a break from some things in life to fully enjoy things....

Well, good luck!

After a break of two years, I am back at it.  The environment has changed to Ubuntu under wine 1.2.  I think I am as avid as ever.  Something of note, however:

  1. Getting going under wine was only a problem until I got the right files across.  This was a lot of fun (not).
  2. During this escapade, I had occasion to run under XP after not using it for two years.  After the boot, I was deluged with updates, which I did.  I also got rid of my old McAfee $$$ virus scanner, and loaded a free one, since I don't really intend to spend much time on XP any more.  By comparison with the Ubuntu version of the same machine, SC4 lumbers like a ox.  But this seems to be a general characteristic of XP.  It takes XP forever to launch a program, even something as simple as notepad.  I suspect Microsoft still doesn't know how to run a paged machine.
  3. I did get the files across, and straightened out, but I had to recopy my plugins directly from the XP disk into the wine C drive while running under Ubuntu.  With version 9.10 of Ubuntu, NTFS disks are read/write, so this is easy.
  4. I am occasionally having a problem with RGB boxes appearing in place of buildings, but it is transient.  If anyone remembers what this is about, please let me know.  A private message would be nice.
Edit: Saturday, 14 November 2009. I am still working on #4.  My best guess is memory trouble.  My city now takes the program down, which kills wine, and does not kill the O/S.

I to just got back into SC4 after a few months off.  With all the new custom content out there, the game feels almost new again.  That's what love about it.   Although my plugins folder is getting quite large now!
