I like playing mini golf, but "real" golf is even more stupid than racing and soccer combined.

As for what I need in a sport, it isn't challenge or perfection, it's complexity. If something is going to be interesting to watch, there needs to be variety in the action, not just the same thing happening over and over again. And I like games that involve thinking, not just acting.

Soccer... there's no variety in the action at all. Run around and kick the ball, that's about it. And yes, there are tactics, but the game is nonetheless a lot of doing and not very much thinking.

Golf... forget variety in the action, there is no action. And there isn't any thinking either. Just hit the ball towards the hole. Which is easier said than done, yes, but there isn't much thought involved. Mini golf is actuallf far better with regards to thought because rather than hitting the ball in the air, you're navigating a topographical maze, so you get the geometry and physics involved a lot more.

As for racing, as I said, it's just driving around in circles. No variety, nothing at all interesting unless someone crashes and burns. As for thinking... please. Get ahead, stay ahead. Have a fast pit crew. You're done!

But baseball is the most complex sport out there, and also the most in depth as far as strategy goes (the degree to which you see statistics developed and analyszed demonstrates this).

And football (American) is less complex, but still above average in its level of complexity, and requires a decent ammount of thought as well.

Another great game is chess - very complex, very heavy on the thinking. But it's not a sport, it's a board game.

6455. I play no sport, because I hate all of them. Watching them however, is another matter. Especially with the current World Cup, I happen to notice that I'm glued to the TV, even though I should be doing my homework.

It doesn't have to be complex to be enjoyable to play. But it does need to be complex to be enjoyable to watch. Otherwise it just gets boring real fast and can't hold my attention.

6458. Why did you count them? Or is it nothing more than an estimated guess?

Yes that is accurate. I counted them because it is recommended to have about 460 berries for a proper pie. Now that I know that the containers I used hold around 220-250 berries, I won't need to count them next time. Granted some are bigger than others, but I know that 2 full containers should be enough, so the berries being different sizes doesn't matter all that much.

6461. How big is that container? And I would assume mass is more relevant than amount, since 460 tiny beries won't give much of a pie, while 460 really big ones (think golf-balls) will feed an army. Though, given the large amount, one could assume that the very heavy one will account for the not so big one, giving a nice average.

I prefer raspberries. I still like blackberries. The reason raspberries are my favorite berries is because my family has a raspberry patch in the back yard of our previous house. We still own it but the renters do not take care of the yard and do not allow us to pick our own raspberries.

Yes! I finally have a special number!

EDIT: Sorry, you are 6465.

64645. Repeating digits! Got sniped.

Bl: Well, taste can also be very complex. The reason why someone likes food A, but dislikes food B, while another person is the exact opposite is very complex.

Minigolf is just boaring.

Something I have to say about baseball: What the hell is tactics or something complex about hitting a ball with a wodden club and running over 3 bases to the "homebase" while the other team is trying to bring back the baseball as fast as possible? At soccer instead you have to give every player the position where he is best and make strategys how to attack the opponent's goal. A very difficult job.

Golf is the sport of perfection, I know, it's complex (Much much more than Baseball) but it's also very interresting to watch and extremely fun to play. At golf you have to know exactly your skills, you have to think about the influence of wind, weather, your club and the type of golfball you are playing. And you have to think how you want to play a hole before makeing the first hit. So the actual hitting of the ball is just a very small part of playing golf. And the greens with their hills and valleys are often much more evil than a stupid minigolf hole with it's ideotic windmills and it's 45° angles.

And statistics can be made about every game.

I agree with you about Chess...... have you ever tried "GO"?

6468. I agree with Skimbo, Mini golf is boring. Just hit the ball as hard as you can, and you'll get there. Well, you also have to aim for the hole in the windmill, but that isn't to difficult.

I think we're quite sure that we all have our own opinions on our sports. I don't see why we need to rage a debate here.

And Korot, I wasn't asking for an explanation on how anything can be overcomplexified. Though if you wish to overcomplexify everything, be my guest. Don't expect me to join in though.

I don't know what to put here anymore.

Baseball is nowhere near as simple as you make it out to be. Read through everything here under "Batting", "Pitching", "Baserunning", and "Fielding" and then tell me that there are no tactics in baseball and the game is simple. Pitching alone is complex (read articles here).

(also, it's "home plate", not "homebase")

The same applies to baseball, just replace "attack the opponent's goal" with "score runs". And that doesn't cover defense...

Yes, the game requires a lot of skill. That doesn't make it any less boring to watch.

It's not really fair to say one sport is more challenging than another. Different people are good at different things.

Besides, not everyone enjoys a challenge in all circumstances. It's understandable that someone might prefer something because it's easier.

Korot: I'm not sure exactly how big the containers are... but as I said, I know now that two of them filled should be enough for a pie, so number don't matter anymore. I just need to fill them up. I agree that rasberries are better than blackberries, but I no longer have access to wild rasberries as I did as a child. The patch was lost when my parents put an addition on the house and re-landscaped the yard. However, my dad's office has ample amounts of blackberries, and the resulting pies taste just as good.

And for the record, baseball is very complex.

Somehow I doubt that anyone could play in FIFA. You gotta be in shape, for starters. And while the game itself is simple there is nonetheless a lot of skill involved in playing it professionally.

Agreed. Playing soccer is physically demanding. It's a lot of running. And professionals are extremely agile with their ball control. That's not easy.

Baseball, the sport invented by school girls, that could be played quicker than cricket.
