My PC handles every games well except this one, there seems to be a consistent problem of memory leak running the game, the progressive lag comes every half a hour or so playing a medium sized map with even a fairly rural town until I save, exit to planet and re-enter.

The problem persists throughout the patches.

I did only very simple testing using task manager, it seems the game was using lots of page files already after 30mins in game, my hdd is a sata2 with 32mb cache, it was not under heavy load. Then I checked the memory status, usage was well below 40% of 6134mb.

I doubt if this only happens on X64 systems. This makes the game hardly playable, for this reason I am not going to buy it.

I hate to disappoint you but that problem has been around for testers since day one and what your doing is the only thing you can do until some decade it's fixed.

Instant gratification is a $%&^! ain't it... Sorry ... I couldn't help myself... you'd be missing out on a great game... Personally,  I have some maps that are almost completely paved over, cities with some up to 35 million, and the memory leak doesn't really hinder my playing experience.... and further more .... the game is dirt cheap ....  I bought CitiesXL 2011 for 14.00 ... got the upgrade to 2012 for another 5 bucks and that lead to me getting CitiesXL platinum for another 4.99. Plus with all the content available at XLNation.net (A much more friendly forum for XL enthusiests) it makes it all worth it... and guess what ... its your game should you decide to keep it...

They say that CXL uses an old graphics engine from 2005, I guess that's what is causing lag for most people.
