The Age Gap

It's just a theory, but, I think that one of the major reasons for the dip in 25-40 year olds is that many folks in that age bracket have young children to look after. Then at approximately 40 their kids are teenagers, and the parent has more time for themselves.

Then many folks over 45 or so really haven't had very much exposure to computers as kids.

People from 35-45 or so we're essentially the first generation of gamers. I'm 39 and I practically lived in the arcade at the mall when I was in high school.

Also I think there is a spike in computer interest for the 35-45 group due to the newness of it all back in the 80's, also, back then the C64 & amiga we're very capable gaming machines.

@pete1061; If a thread has been 'dead' for a while (has not gotten a post in a long time), it is generally frowned upon to post in it. It is called bumping a thread. I don't want to sound mean, but here at Simtropolis, it is frowned upon.

Thanks,

I don't really understand.

The thread didn't seem that old to me, only 6 weeks.

Usually, I consider a thread "dead" once it's off the 1st page.

This one was still on the 1st page.

I thought "bumping" was when someone replied with 'bump' in the post and not much else.

I also thought it was a moderators job to point out such things, you don't appear to be a moderator.

Bumping a thread is fine as long as the new post adds something worthwhile to the discussion which pete1061's did. Bumping a thread is frowned upon when the new post adds nothing to the discussion. The rule about bumping states:

Please do not revive or bump old threads after they have dropped to the later pages, unless there is significant new topical information to add.quote>

I'm inclined to agree with pete1061. I joined recently after only stumbling across this site. I'm 23 but I've played all the simcity games(I remember getting a kick out of those bridges that open and close randomly in the first one). I was searching for the sc4 update(after installing it ona a new computer) which fixed some bugs in the rush hour traffic when this site came up. I had originally planned to just check on the new box's capability(I know a 6 year old game isn't much for benchmarking but I love it) but my... I've never been this addicted to a game in years! The only reason I can feed this addiction is I'm currently single and I'm working from home. On days when I need to go to the office, I end up coming home late and can't really play. So yeah, its logical to assume that people in the 25-40 age bracket are busy IRL.
