A NYC BAT Team?

It has been a while since I started my own discussion in the forums. So I hope i don't mess up with this

but here goes...

Since I have been doing a few New York buildings, which many people like, I was wondering if I should start

like a BAT Team for it? Like have some people as BATers(I'm one of them), have some to Mod them like make ploppable versions and what not, and maybe some to do lotting. I want to start this because there's not a lot of NYC buildings on the STEX and few people have been requesting BATs from NYC to me that I may not have time to do so soon and may not be able to get to do in time. I can't do this myself. So I was wondering, if anyone wanted to be part of this proposed NYC BAT Team. I'm not sure what to call it or if anyone will join but I'll see with feedback.

You seem to have made several decent-looking buildings and are not one of these untalented jerks who want a full team of underling BATters to make stuff for them, but NYC BATters are a fairly disconnected group and it would be an impressive feat to unite everyone into one team. Good luck, though.

Thanks for saying that. I'm glad to FINALLY have a reply. I have been making several buildings. Including 2 I can't release because parts of the Models aren't my work. These include One Liberty Plaza and Federal Hall in New York. Hanson784 is currently retexturing One Liberty Plaza for me, he's the only other member in the group right now. I've been helping him with his New York project and he has been helping me with mine too. Hopefully I can have more members soon. Any Ney York BATer out there that's wants to join? You can say so here, or PM me.

For being such a big city, with so much interest, and so many potential BATers, it's surprising that there's never been an organized effort to do recreations. I think there's always been at least one or two people making NYC buildings at one time, so hopefully you'll be able to organize a group.

I think that groups in the past were successful because they offered something over staying independent, and fell apart when they were no longer able to offer anything. Groups can offer specialization, can help share the work load, can share knowledge, etc.

Very well put statement. I'm suprised about that there has never been a BAT Team to make many recreations from the city also. I only got 1 other member so far, and I'm hoping for more. I'm not sure what to call it, I'm thinking just NYC BAT Team. Maybe, I'm not to sure about the name.

I also find it interesting that there hasn't been an NY BAT team yet. (We came close with X Design team) This is a good idea even though it's a bit late. We've had great great BATer's in the past such as Don Miguel, Desimciti, and others creating most NY related content around the same time. They created great work by themselves but what if they teamed up and collaborated?

I'm also suprised as some very famous NYC skyscrapers haven't been made yet. I teamed up with simcity4fan12 because two people can get more work done than one can by themselves, the workload can now be shared just as Jason said. And I at least want to get some of those famous skyscrapers out before everyone swithces to Cities XL.

The Hong Kong BAT team is a good example of a BAT team that has stuck together while producing excellent creations, same with the Detriot BAT team.

I'm probably not switching to Cities XL honestly, or at least not completely giving up Simcity 4. We need several famous buildings from New York on the STEX, one of the biggest surprises to me about that is the lack of Times Square buildings. I'm actually working on one.

I wonder if Don Miguel and Desimciti are still around. They made several New York related buildings that were great. We could use their help with this.

I was also thinking that members in the NYC BAT Team would focus on certain buildings in certain neighborhoods. Like me, I'm focusing on the Financial District.

Yeh the NYC is a mixed bag, there have been some great releases, but most are pretty amateur. But we've all been amateur creators sometimes, which is why I am constantly trying to improve my old buildings. I've mostly avoided the NYC buildings unless its a really steller release. One of the main reasons I don't use NYC buildings is that I've seen too many that are lacking roof detail. While this seems like such a mild complaint so many NYC buildings are rectangles they need something to really give the building some substance. All too often they seems like boxes with textures slapped on them.

    I love coffee and buildings.

I haven't downloaded the Toys R Us Times Square, it seems to me that the scale is way off and you'd have to be three foot tall to enter the entrance. Or am I just seeing things?

I don't really consider myself an ametur, I have made most decent work. But I'm always dissapointed to see to see the ones that are textured boxes. One reason I want to start this is becuase I want those to be detailed. I want to make really good looking builings, and have help with others I don't have time to do.

EDIT: The Toys "R" Us Times Square building to me seems to be in scale. It could just look short because of what goes above the entrance.

Thanks b_schlurf! Good to see a new member. I would reach out at SC4D but for some reason I couldn't become a member there. I'm glad the "NBT" has a new member. Thanks for the name also.

I'm still around and wouldn't mind joining the team.  However I can't guarantee my reliability, seeing as how I haven't uploaded anything in quite a while.  I'm usually either busy or suffering from the "king of unfinished projects" syndrome.  I have the following NYC projects that Ive started over the past 2-3 years, but abandonded for other projects (which aren't finished either):

    1- Broadway-Chambers Building (Progress - 75%)

2- Kennedy Fried Chicken corner store (95%)

    3- Con Edison Building (33%)

4- Brooklyn apartment buildings (25 - 90%, there are three of them)

5- One of the buildings on Madison Square North (67%)

    6- Silver Towers (50%)

7- Gas station from Lower East Side (40%)

and several other NYC and non-NYC projects from Utica, NY and Toronto.  If anybody is interested, I'll post some images of the progress.

Thanks bixel! That means alot coming from someone with talent like yours.

Good to see you Don Miguel, you would be an excellent member to our team. I am interested in seeing some of your progress, I would show mine, but I'm a two-part process BATer: Sketchup7 and then gmax. So I may show progress on some of my NY creations once they're in gmax. What are some of the other buildings you're working on Don?

Maybe now since there is 4(myself, Hanson784,b_schlurf, and Don Miguel) members of the NBT(or NYC BAT Team? which do ya'll prefer?), maybe soon I should start a official thread for our team. This one was more for finding members for it.

Now I'm wondering, for our team, if members should focus on different neighborhooods in Manhattan and in the other Boroughs. I'm mainly BATing buildings in the Financial District, maybe Battery Park City, and some of TriBeCa. Or should we all just have a mix of which buildings in districts we should create. I'm not sure maybe just mixing it up would be better.

EDIT: b_shlurf and Don Miguel may be members. Ya'll can join and I would appreciate it, but I already said you were members and I realized that maybe ya'll haven't decided if you would like to join but you can.
