Game Randomly Stops

why does my game randomly stop and send me to my deskstop? Nothing really happens that causes this problem, except for the small lag from the crappy framerate.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium with a NVIDIA 9800gtx video card, AMD PHenom 9650 Quad-Core Processor, 2.30 GHz, and 7.00 GB of RAM.

Its a fairly common issue with the game, caused by all sorts of things. Plugin issues, GLR puzzle pieces, bad downloads, all can lead to a crash. What works best for me is to save at fairly regular intervals, which seems to extend playtime.

How many addons do you have, ExtenZe? Maybe an addon is conflicting with another, causing the crash.

There's a whole bunch of these random crash threads but this was the most recent so posting here. Having somewhat similar issues atm, my largest city on map tends to crash after ~1 minute of gameplay.

Been experimenting on the crash, managed to keep SC up for some time, but the crash seems to occur after 1-3 minutes of gameplay despite my efforts to stop it from crashing.  However, when the game is paused, the crash does not occur so it has something to do with developement inside the city.

There is no funny plugins, tested every single one I've downloaded that they work properly, and generally there doesn't seem to be anything "strange" going on that I could notice just by looking. Not using any radical mods/plugins, just NAMM, some textures and a crapload of buildings etc.

But the big problem is, what's causing this erratic behaviour, is there any examples of this kind of case?

Pretty much this is a bug with the game that never got fixed, because i have had it happen to me multiple times even before i ever had any plugins.

Most of the times it happens when i zoom out too rapidly.

I have pretty much gotten used to it.

zooming too fast huh?

Don't think it's that, no matter what the zooming level SC just goes boom at random. Continued my experiments today, not getting to the bottom of this yet.

gosh darn it I wish the exception report logs would make some sense

problem sort of fixed it self, thought screw this and played some other cities in the region.

tried the problem city today and it worked perfectly again.

this problem can occur when you place a maxis airport in your region/city. they contained a small bug that causes ctd during play. deleting them and replacing them with other airports will fix this. andreas made a replacement pack, i think it's on sc4d.

Interesting, however when the bug occured first time I did not have an airport constructed anywhere.

Having the same thing with another city now, the city where the bug originally occurred works fine again. Oh fun

This happens to me.....as previously said, it is a fairly common issue and various things can cause it but there are no safe fixes or patches to fix it. and like also said by trainguy4449, save regularly and that's about all you can do. Best Regards, Philly.
