Hello 1.gif

I'm thinking about downloading the Industry Quadrupler V2.1 but i have some questions:

1) If this mod makes the industries profite more jobs for the Sims, it will drop the demand of industries and reduce the space that i need to build new factories?

2) It will affect all the industries (including farms) or only those that are construct after installing the mod?

3) Do i need to remove the industries from all cities before downloading the mod?

4) I have some extra non-Maxis buildings. They will also profite more jobw for the Sims?

5) Is there any problem-bug-issue about this mod?

Thanks for the help 1.gif

1: Since it doubles the jobs, you will see a loss of demand for industry, but it will decrease the space needed to have more jobs, so yes.

2: I don't think it effects Agriculture, but it will still double the jobs for existing industry and industry that is built after you install it. But to see an increase in industrial jobs (in region mode), you will have to go into each existing city (with industry) and save it.

3: Nope.

4: I don't think this mod effects downloaded content, so no.

5: Not that I know of.

You'll probably have massive unemployment if many of your sims work in the industry, but if you zone for alot of industrial, you might be able to reduce most of it.

There is a residential halver (https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=12383), but it affects all Maxis lots, and ONLY Maxis lots.  That means that any custom content you have will simply crowd out all the Maxis buildings and your population density will be right back where you started, unless the custom content has realistic numbers (and almost none of it does, because otherwise the unmodded Maxis content would crowd THEM out).

Now, if you don't have any custom R$ content and you just want to halve the residents on R$ lots, it's pretty easy to adjust slightlyslack's original mod.  You'll need ilive's reader for this (available at https://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=656; you will need to register at SC4Devotion if you haven't already).  Make a backup of residentialhalver.dat, and then open the reader and load the file.  You'll see a list of 242 exemplar files, one for each Maxis residential lot.  Numbers 0 through 88 are the R$ lots.  Delete numbers 89 through 241, save as zzwhatever (the zz is crucial, since the game loads plugins in alphabetical order and later plugins always override earlier ones; the rest of the file name can be whatever you want), put it in your plugins folder, and away you go.

Now, if you do have R$ custom content, you'll either have to take it out, block its growth, or dial down those numbers, too.  Taking it out is only an option if you don't yet have any in your cities, or you're willing to demolish all of it.  To block it, find the exemplar file for each lot (it's most often in lotname.dat).  There may be two exemplars; you want the one with the OccupantGroups property.  This property determines the tileset to which the lot belongs (Chicago, New York, Houston, or Euro).  Copy the exemplar to a new dat file, called zzwhatever.  Once you've done that, open the exemplar, find the property, double click on it, look for the numbers 2000, 2001, 2002, and/or 2003, delete them, and then hit "Apply".  Doing that will leave all existing copies of that lot in your game, but since it no longer is assigned to any tile set, it won't grow under any circumstances.  Repeat for each lot you want to modify.  Finally, if you want to adjust them yourself, open the exemplar file and change the value Capacity Satisfied.  Note that these values are in hexadecimal, not base ten, so if you don't know hex digits, open up your calculator, imput the value you want in base ten, and then convert it to hex.  Do that for every lot you want to modify.  It's tedious, but it will work.

this little thing is kinda essential if you want a HUGE metropolis, and you'll probable have to use your neighboring cities also
