Agriculture useful???

 I was wondering if agriculture does help your city in some kind of way; has it advantages over industrial?  does it worth the big space it takes and the water pollution it produces?

I second the question.  I would like to also add the question of how many farms do you need to unlock the farmer's market reward?  I have a medium sized tile literally covered in farms and still haven't gotten it.  I will be glad to review the city and post the exact number of agricultural jobs if you want, I dont know it offhand.

You get some jobs from it, which in turn spurs development.

To get the Farmer's Market, you need 600 farm jobs and a residential population of 3,000. It is possible to get this reward on even a small tile, as long as you don't take up too much space with water/ other terrain. Also, smaller size farms provide more jobs, so try zoning lots of small farms instead of a few large ones.
