Is it after all this years of modding still not possible to create lager areas for cities? Since the idea of the regions ist not working (e.g. each regions wants a airport and seaport) i would like to build cities double the size of what is currently possible.

Is there a way to build a mod for building larger cities?

Wow that's a pretty big city. I think that's only practical and a great idea. I hope they make it. Although I won't be able to have fun with that anymore.

It is impossible and impractical to make larger cities.

Impossible since you need to edit the main .exe for it to work, which may harm the game itself.

Impractical since a larger city requires more RAM, etc, which will make crashes more often and game much slower.

Todays machines are beginning to overcome your second statement, but the first statement will always remain. Altering the main game is too risky, you risk losing everything.

The parameters that actually control this , I believe , are controlled by the .exe . At this time it is still against the EULA to alter the .exe , and even if someone could read the compiled code and change those parameters , they could not release the resulting product since it is illegal to alter the .exe

well, cracking games to remove the copy protection is also illegal but it is done everyday. I would say this is worse than editing the .exe for this purpose. I think it wouldn't even bother EA after all this years.

That might be true if an individual did it, but doing it for ST, and uploading it, just might draw their attention.

if your smart enough to figure out how without causing your game to be very messed up, go for it. I wouldent spread it around since it could possibly get you in legal issues. But personaly i dont think EA would really care a whole lot since it is not like somebody is spreading around somthing to destroy the game, its to make the game better and would keep people playing longer. im sure even if somebody didbreak the law to make the game better, the (not so massive) Simcity community would most likly raise ***** over it 3.gif but thats just my thoughts

EA has turned a blind eye to EULA violations in the past--there are a number of Sims 2 modders who sell their custom content for a profit, an egregious EULA violation, and EA not only doesn't file cease and desist orders, it actually invited several to preview The Sims 3.

I'm curious as to whether it's POSSIBLE to mod the .EXE without the source code. I thought it wasn't, but I know about as much about computer programming as I do about voodoo magic (the two arts often seem interchangeable).

Is there a mod that sophisticates the Education demographic map, and divides it up into Elementary School, Library, High School, etc.?

I am finding it difficult to make resdiential districts because the range rings are intersecting, and it is almost impossible to tell if a certain region has a library within its range. It would be cool if you could just click the Library circle and the map would only show the ranges of all the libraries, so I would exactly know what educational amenities the district has.
