The average income drops.

Hi
When I switch from my first (dirty) town and move back to the serious one. The average income (that the traffic time has an impact on) drops serious, just like half of the last play. What should I do? Will it affect much in the game?

While I have no idea what is actually going on, I have noticed this too.   I have a couple of theories, but perhaps someone here with some knowledge of how the in-game mechanics work could provide a better answer....

1.  Perhaps the simulator doesn't recognize the income brought in by sims who work out-of-town.

2.  Perhaps some sims have retired?   I've noticed when I build a city in a well-developed, well-connected region (ie: it develops REALLY fast), 60 or 70 sim years down the road, I notice a big drop (greater than 50%) in average sim income.   Looking at the population-by-age graph, I can also see that most of my residents are at retirement age.

Like I said, I don't know how accurate these assumptions are, but in any case, I've yet to notice anything else negative going on in my cities other than this.  It doesn't seem to lead to excessive building dilapidation or a mass exodus of the population.

I think there's a good chance #1 is true.. I seem to notice the same phenomenon when I build a neighboring city and return to my original one.

I would agree with option #1. From my experience the simulator has quite a lot of problems with it.

I'm guessing it is safe to say that you built more industry in your dirty city while there. That industry is dirty industry since it is the dirty city, right? So if those statements are true, then that means there are more dirty jobs for your sims which means more jobs for R$ who probably moved in pretty quick when you switched to your main city. Well those dirty jobs do not pay very well and when you increased the amount of those jobs they put a big dent in your average income. I'm also going to guess that your average education level and health level dropped as well. This has happened to me several times. There's nothing to worry about, all you did was add more people that make less than what the average was. There is really no big impact on anything. I hope I made sense and correct me if any of my assumptions are incorrect.
