Is It Worth It?

What the title says. Should I waste up the weening amount of space on my HD to play this game? I've heard from SC junkies that the game isn't worth it, doesn't resemble the original SC and such. Of course it doesn't, it's entirely diffrent, I know that. But is it a fun game in and of itself? I don't care if it's similar or not to the SC series.

Really, no replies?

It's an interesting game until you realize how pointless and unrealistic it is. I got it probably a year ago Christmas 2007, played it a few weeks and then off and on a bit, and then my computer crashed in May 2008.

Never bothered to reinstall it because I didn't miss it.

But now that my new computer has also crashed and I'm back to default again, I may reinstall and dig out my old cities again since I managed to rescue all my old files (whew). Just for fun. There is some depth in the game if you look for it. Don't go into playing it thinking you can go about the same way as all the previous SimCities, because, well, you can't.

I wouldn't recommend buying it for the original $49.99 EA wanted for it originally. Maybe the $19.99 when it fell into the discount bins. But now that its value seems to have dropped as low as $2, it's worth it if your even a little curious.

Simcity 4 was designed likely for more hardcore gamers ... like this community. Societies is much more shallow, designed for more casual gamers. Evidently, EA wanted to kick up sales with this approach. It wasn't all that sucessful.

Is it fun? That is entirely subjective. Some people think that it is what simcity should be, others are horrified at the way the simcity universe has gone with societies and wish it never existed.

no.. a thousand times no..

its not remotely interesting. It is so simplified there might as well be a giant button in the middle of the screen that says "Push me to win, if you don't push me in the next 30 seconds I'll push myself"

It was an ok game. It just didn't keep my attention like SimCity 4 did.

I really didn't enjoy this game. As soon as I saw it in the store i bought it. And its really not very similar to simcity 4. Simcity 4 was great due to the fact you set zones for people to build upon and you watched your village ---> town ---> city ---> grow into something awesome. On SCS, you choose the houses you build "which is not very amusing" and you basically give a theme to your city such as horror or arty or something like that. There is no challenge to the game at all. Yes the graphics are good but it doesn't compensate for the gameplay. In my opinion, no don't get it.

if you have a computer that smokes then get scs and play it for 20 minutes or so realize you've just wasted 20 minutes and $$

if your computer is weak... then play it for 10 minutes and let it crash and realize you need a new computer and wasted 10 minutes and $$

it sucks

our world is a simcity

I have to agree with these guys, EA really destroyed this game series. I don't know wha they were thinking designing this game. I think they wanted Sim City to be more like The Sims, and it's not. If I found this game in the street I wouldn't pick it up and play it again.

OP, the game is differently worth it.

However you may have a hard time finding a technique to laying out your city.

The game still lacks a grid and it's hard to keep track of how big the buildings are in order to fill a block.

It's differently worth it though and I recommend it.
