I've looked into the downloads, but am not registered at maxis.  I can't find my game's serial code, so I am not sure what I have to download.  I have downloaded to my desktop Update SKU1 to P1, but am not understanding what else I need to do.

To make nightlights appear on downloads, follow these instructions.

If you haven't already, you need to download the EP1 Update for the game.
Go here: https://www.sc4devotion.com/SC4D_Maxis_files_EP1.html
For whatever region you live in, download the specific SKU file. For instance, if you live in North America, only download the file marked "sku 1".

Then, you need to download the SC4Update4BAT, which is here: https://www.sc4devotion.com/maxis/SC4Update4BAT.zip

Install the EP1 Update first, ignore the warning, and then install the SC4UpdateBAT file. Then you're done!
Remember you need Sim City 4 Rush Hour or Sim City 4 Deluxe for these updates and most downloads to work.

What is the version of the Simcity 4.exe file.  If it is not 1.1.640.0 then the game is not fully updated.

You need the SC4update4BAT.exe installed, I think you can get it at simcity.ea.com, or SC4D web site.

Boggy1 has a link in his reply above.

Ok I decided to do a reinstall, apply sku1 update for North America. To the best of my memorey it ran fine last time. This time it did not.

Applying MODIFY File Patch for 'SimCity_1.dat'

warning wpt0036: Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was

found. No update done since file contents do not match.

Applying MODIFY File Patch for 'SimCity_2.dat'

warning wpt0036: Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was

found. No update done since file contents do not match.

And SimCity 4.exe will not update either. It still says it is 613.

Please do not ask for game files, it is not allowed here.

Look in the Simcity 4 program folders for the SKU folder, it will have the right SKU number. I don't think version 613 is North America.

If it applies, the patch will not take on pirated, cracked games, or when using no-cd exe's.

Well it was a multilingual copy so maybe thats why. Anyways I have the retail copy and eventually got it working finally.

If you you have tool tips enabled in the Windows Explorer you can hover the mouse over the "

C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps\jSimCity 4.exe" file.  If not right click on that file and choose "properties", one of the tabs in the window that pops up will have the version listed.
